Meet and Greet for 2026-2027 School Year

Seniors from Battery Creek High School and Beaufort High School came by today for their senior walks. Congratulations seniors, your honors are well deserved and you are an inspiration to our students!

Last night was our fabulous Arts Showcase! Students performed skits, music, sang, and shared their art. There was even cookies and milk to help us celebrate! Congratulations students on all your hard work!

Two years ago, our esteemed writing teacher, Mrs. Blake, began a special project with our then–fourth graders. Students researched our beautiful Woods Memorial Bridge here in Beaufort and wrote about its history, as well as the unique process of how it opens and closes. Now in fifth grade, these same students have brought their words to life through thoughtful illustrations, created alongside our outstanding art teacher, Mrs. Kent.

Then came a wonderful idea: What if their work could become a published book? From that spark, a nearly year-long journey began. Our dedicated staff guided students every step of the way—from revisions and edits to storyboarding and design. Through countless hours of hard work, perseverance, and commitment, their vision finally became a reality.

We are deeply grateful to our PTO for generously sponsoring a copy of the book for each student author, and to our administration for their unwavering support throughout this project. At times, the finish line seemed far away—but together, we reached it.

This morning, the students celebrated their achievement with a walking field trip to Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. For the first time, they held the published book they had created – a truly unforgettable moment. We were honored to welcome Bridge Captain Bobby Boyer, who shared his expertise, answered questions, and even arranged a maintenance opening of the bridge. Students watched in awe as the bells rang and the bridge slowly turned—bringing to life everything they had studied, written, and illustrated.

As cheers echoed across the water, the city paused, if only for a moment, to honor this remarkable group of fifth-grade students from Beaufort Elementary.

You are invited to Beaufort Middle School to watch the Gryphon Band & Orchestra Finale Concert, meet the current students in the program and the Director, Mrs. Trimpey! The concert starts promptly at 5:30 pm in the BMS gymnasium.

Don’t forget! Those who signed up for 6th grade Band next year should attend the Zoom meeting next week, May 27th at 6 pm to get an understanding of what will be required for Band class next school year.

It was an amazing day at Hunting Island State Park! We painted, wrote poetry, hunted for shark teeth, and learned about keeping our turtles safe.
