One of the biggest misconceptions in piano playing is the idea striking notes with the fingers. The motion of the finger originates in the palm itself, specifically at the MP joint where the first knuckles on the hand are. Pianists must learn to move their fingers from this point and in doing so they develop perfect evenness, control, precision, and freedom in moving the fingers
