Objective 📢 Inform people about the importance of tracking progress in breastfeeding.

To strengthen infant feeding outcomes globally, healthcare systems must first measure what works. Standardized monitoring of human milk initiation, duration, and clinical acuity allows institutions to identify gaps, allocate resources, and eliminate systemic disparities that disproportionately impact marginalized communities.

Peer-reviewed research published in the Journal of Human Lactation (JHL) demonstrates that routine data collection transforms clinical care from reactive management to proactive, equity-centered support.

VISUAL ABSTRACT 🖼️ This study successfully identifies potential lactation-specific miRNAs that may be shared between milk siblings, providing valuable insights and laying a foundation for future identification of milk kinship biomarkers. However, despite promising findings, current evidence remains insufficient to establish a definitive link between these miRNAs and milk kinship. Further research is required to confirm these findings.

New research highlights an important takeaway: education alone may not be enough to improve breastfeeding outcomes.

A study on postpartum care centers found that while some practices improved with training, exclusive breastfeeding rates didn’t significantly change, pointing to the need for broader support systems.
