Haley Smith Skaer of the Fauquier Secular Homeschoolers FB group has been working with the Fauquier Parks and Rec to see about getting more homeschool classes offered. They agreed to set some up for us in Vint Hill in the fall/winter. The more popular they are the more they can host even more classes. They are excited to work with us!

So far, they have the following scheduled to help with your planning for next year. Registration will be open in August and classes will start in September and run through January, she believes.

* School age Home School Creative Art with Amy on Tuesdays 10am - 12pm

* Teen Home School Creative Art with Amy on Tuesdays 1-3pm

* Preschool Home School Musical Fun on Wednesdays 10-11am

* School Age Homeschool Get Up and Mive on Thursday's 10-11:30am

Core Knowledge (not to be confused with Common Core) offers free curriculum materials in preschool through Grade 8 —including daily lesson plans, assessments, student books, and activities—in these core subjects:

English Language Arts
History and Geography
Science
Mathematics

Through their website, you can download an entire curriculum (4 subjects' worth), preschool thru grade 8, and the accompanying teacher resources for free. The downloadable PDF files can be read on your computer or printed. An entire curriculum - grade by grade, subject by subject, unit by unit - for free.

Content, readability, and relatability to everyday life is excellent. The material is not like "standardized learning" or learning to pass a test. The texts are enjoyable and spark genuine conversations.

I hope this helps anyone looking for free resources for homeschool instruction.

HOPE Science Fair

HOPE's annual Science Fair is coming up! It is open to any homeschooler and one does not need to be a member of HOPE to participate. It is the morning of Saturday, March 26 in Manassas. The deadline to register is March 11th.
