Lyra Music was founded in 2010, with the vision of enhancing the lives of young musicians and enriching communities through classical music training and performance. A multi-faceted, non-profit organization, Lyra Music produces an annual summer young artist program and music festival as well as a youth music competition for string players and pianists. nce Program is a residential, conservatory-style classical summer music program held in New York’s Hudson Valley. Lyra Young Artists are a select group of applicants who demonstrate a high level of proficiency on their instruments and are able to learn advanced repertoire quickly. This is a competitive audition-based program, open to violinists, violists, cellists, and pianists ages 13-18. This performance-based program provides a pre-professional touring experience for string players and pianists seeking an opportunity to hone solo and chamber performance and related skills. Young musicians will be inspired by the intensive study of solo and chamber music repertoire with Lyra Music Guest Artists-in-Residence and a focus on performance technique in a variety of settings, including indoor and outdoor outreach concerts, a final gala student event, and invaluable opportunities to participate in and attend masterclasses and concerts produced for the Lyra Music Festival and performed by world-class guest artists. Lyra Music supports the musical, emotional, and personal development of every participant through a non-competitive environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential. The Lyra Music Festival presents world-class musicians in concert and master class with Lyra Music young artists and provides an opportunity for Lyra’s young musicians to experience the life of a professional musician on tour, through an intensive chamber and solo performance schedule in a variety of settings. The Lyra Festival comprises traditional classical chamber performances and engages new audiences and classical music lovers alike through free outreach concerts bringing live classical music out of the concert hall and into the community. The Lyra Music Youth Competition motivates young musicians to work to their full potential, while providing invaluable experience and meaningful performance feedback, as well as cash prizes or scholarships to the Lyra Music Young Artist Program. We design every component of Lyra Music programming to work synergistically towards the goals of training young classical musicians and building community through world-class concerts and free-outreach events. Lyra is proud to inspire and nurture tomorrow’s musicians and music audiences today. Lyra Music is a 501c3 non-profit organization grateful to a community of dedicated supporters whose generosity helps Lyra thrive.

What a wonderful way to close out the 2026 Lyra Music Festival!

It's hard to believe these young musicians met for the first time just two weeks ago. The level of artistry, collaboration, and musicianship they achieved in such a short time was truly remarkable.

Thank you to our incredible students for your hard work, our faculty, staff, and guest artists for your dedication and inspiration. Thank you to our families, supporters, and volunteers for making it all possible.

What an exhilarating evening with our guest artists last night! Their performance was filled with incredible energy, passion, and artistry, leaving our students inspired and eager to get back to the practice room.
The evening also opened with one of our student chamber groups, offering audiences a preview of the wonderful music they'll hear at our final Young Artists Concert this Saturday at the Howland Cultural Center.

What a exciting evening with our Lyra Faculty Artists! The concert opened with two Lyra students, who both performed beautifully, followed by a captivating program from our Lyra Faculty Artists. The evening concluded with a breathtaking performance of Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No. 1 that had the audience on the edge of their seats.

It was an honor to welcome Simone Dinnerstein for an unforgettable opening night. Her beautifully crafted program brought together the music of J.S. Bach, Keith Jarrett, and Philip Glass—a rare and captivating journey across centuries that was deeply moving.

Today is the day! Our Young Artists are arriving from across the United States, and the Lyra Music Festival officially begins. Over the next two weeks they'll immerse themselves in chamber music, coaching, rehearsals, and performances alongside our outstanding faculty and guest artists.
