Social Work Licensing Exam Tutoring

Social Work Licensing Exam Tutoring This page gives hints and suggestions for social workers who want to pass the licensing exam. There are also sample questions.

I do individual and sometimes small group tutoring for social workers preparing for the LMSW and LCSW exams; I also specialize in helping folks who have not been able to pass yet. I do this in person and online through a site called Zoom.

There are some changes in the exam coming up. From what i know aswb is going to look at helping people pass the exam, etc. it might be a good idea to look at the ASWB website and see if you can find any news. I think they have some new information about content. I think you can sign up to get news from Aswb on their website.

I just started a course on AI (Artificial Intelligence) It is useful in many ways but some of it gives me the heebie jeebies (surveillance)
If you are applying for a sw job, make sure your social media are not too revealing b/c as you know potential employers might be able to access it. Unless you make sure everything
is private

the last person I helped a bit said taking frequent breaks (every 20 questions) or whenever you find yourself spacing out, helped her. Or if you feeling anxiety, walk a bit taking soothing breaths.

After a while if you stick to your seat, all the questions swim in your head and they begin to sound the same! That's why frequent breaks are helpful!

HERES A GOOD QUESTION:

you have been working with a client for 6 months. The original presenting problem was ANXIETY ABOUT WORK; now, the client's ANXIETY has lifted, and you are ready to terminate. The client fears that HER SYMPTOMS WILL return if she stops seeing you. In this situation, you should:
a. Continue seeing the client for another two or three months, or until she is more comfortable with termination
b. Set up a follow-up visit and let the client know that you will be available if necessary
c. Tell the client that everything will be fine and that she has nothing to worry about
d. Consider the possibility of beginning longer-term treatment for Dependent Personality Disorder

Hello

Myself and a colleague are interviewing social work directors, administrators, or supervisors by phone about what they expect or look for in new MSW graduates who are applying for a position. We are hoping that we can influence the MSW curriculum through this exploratory study. We use the CSWE competencies as a guide...but there is opportunity, through open ended discussion for you to speak about anything that we may have missed!

If you may want to participate, it would involve being interviewed on the telephone to address several questions, which you would have in advance. The conversation would be recorded so we can look at what people said through an analysis of the text.

This study was approved by the IRB of Fordham University; everything, of course is confidential, and you can withdraw at any time.

Please contact me at [email protected] or text me at 917-771-5024 to participate and/or get more information..

Thank you so much, be well,
Helen Crohn, LCSW, DSW
