ACT Math and Science Study Group

Get ready for the July ACT.

In these groups, we will go over a math and science test each week. During the zoom session we will discuss the questions you got incorrect.

For math, learn the topics covered on the math section and alternate ways to solve them. Learn about handy functions you can use on your calculator or Desmos. The math covers pre-algebra up to some precalculus topics. Students will get one ACT math test and a set of extra math problems to work on each week. The extra set of questions cover the 5 areas 1) Numbers & Quantity 2) Statistics & Probability 3) Functions 4) Algebra 5) Geometry. The student will also receive study notes for those 5 areas. Additionally, get access to over 100 of my ACT math tutorials.

For science, learn what types of questions are asked and strategies on how to finish this section within the time limit. They will also get material to review for the outside science knowledge questions. Students will get one ACT science test to work on each week.

These sessions will be on Thursdays. Math at 6:00 PM Central / 7:00 PM Eastern and Science at 7:00 PM Central / 8:00 PM Eastern.

Cost is $100 for 5 weeks of math or science or $175 for both. The Science sessions last about 45 minutes and math is about 1 hour.

Students will get a math/science test to work on before the session and we will review it during the session. They will email me the questions numbers they got wrong before the session, so we can go over those.

Can't make a session? That is no problem since the sessions are recorded.

Summer Time SAT Math Prep

Looking to improve your SAT Math score? Get the help you need with my Math Prep Course for the SAT®. In this course we will cover the major topics found on the SAT® Math section. This course consists of lecture, end of lecture quiz, homework, Desmos tutorial, and practice tests. The homework will help reinforce what is learned in class. SAT math problems are present differently than they are in school so it is key to familiarize oneself with them. Sometimes the hard part is figure how you should start the problem or what concept they are testing. The student will also learn about alternative strategies they can use to solve problems they may not know how to do. We also cover the online graphing calculator Desmos which can allow the student to bypass solving questions algebraically. Learn about the new design of the digital version. We will also review some the dreaded hard questions found in the harder second module.

This class starts June 27th. We will meet and Saturdays at 12:00PM Central / 1:00PM Eastern and Mondays at 6:30PM Central / 7:30PM Eastern. Classes are conducted over zoom and are about 2 hours long. Eleven sessions in all.

June 27th – August 3st.
Results: Some students have increased their score by over 100 points in the SAT Math section.
Students already scoring 700 or above should sign up for one-on-one tutoring instead.

Students should have taken Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. This course will have a review of math topics but students should already be familiar them.

Students should expect to spend approximately 2 hours of homework and one hour of review each week outside of class.

Cost is $475 which comes out to about than $22/hr.
