💜 September is Su***de Prevention Month 💜

At Cedar Bayou Junior School, we believe that you can make a difference. Sometimes, a simple conversation, a listening ear, or letting someone know you care can mean more than you realize.

This month, we encourage our CBJ community to SEE IT. SUPPORT IT. SAVE A LIFE.

👀 Know the signs. Look for changes in mood, behavior, routines, friendships, sleep, school performance, or comments about feeling hopeless, trapped, or like a burden.

💬 Start a conversation. A simple “How are you really doing?” can open the door to support.

👂 Listen without judgment. Sometimes, being present and allowing someone to share is the most important thing you can do.

💙 Show you care. Small acts of kindness and regular check-ins can make a big difference.

🤝 Encourage help. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

If you are a CBJ student who is struggling or concerned about a friend, please reach out to your grade-level counselor or another trusted adult at school. You don't have to face difficult moments alone.

🏈💙💛 FIRST GAME OF THE YEAR! 💛💙🏈

Our 8th grade Bears hit the field tonight for their first football game of the year against North Shore! 🐻🔥

These guys brought the energy, competed from start to finish, and showed so much heart and teamwork. We’re incredibly proud of the effort they put on the field and all the moments that made us cheer from the stands!

The first game is officially in the books, and we’re excited to see what this team accomplishes as the season continues. This is just the beginning! 👏🏈

🐻💙 A BIG shout-out to Greater Houston Orthodontics! 💙🐻

We are so grateful to Greater Houston Orthodontics for purchasing headphones for our Cedar Bayou Junior students! 🎧✨

These headphones will be put to great use throughout our campus!!! From state and district testing to digital learning, classroom activities, and assessments. Having reliable headphones available helps ensure our students have the tools they need to stay focused and do their very best.

Goose Creek CISD has reviewed the latest weather information and participated in a regional call with local meteorologists and area officials. During the call, meteorologists advised area school districts of the potential for significant weather impacts on Tuesday. Based on their guidance and the current forecast, school and all after-school activities for Tuesday, September 1, are canceled.

District leaders will continue to monitor weather conditions and will provide an update on school status for Wednesday, September 2, by 6:00 PM Tuesday, September 1.

These may seem like simple tools, but they make a BIG impact in our classrooms. Our teachers can use them for students to work out problems, share their thinking, participate in activities, and, most importantly, allow teachers to quickly check for understanding and see learning in action! 🙌

🐻 Strolling into a NEW week at CBJ like… 🚶‍♀️💙💛

Our admin team is ready to hit the ground running! This week brings some important reminders and continued work as we build a strong, safe, and connected Bear Family.

🪪 Student badges officially begin Tuesday! We’re excited to continue building a culture where students are ready, responsible, and proud to be a Bear.

👕 Dress code expectations will continue to be reinforced consistently as we help our students understand that how we show up matters.

🤝 Relationships first. We’ll be out and about- greeting students, visiting classrooms, checking in, listening, encouraging, and building the connections that make CBJ feel like home.

📚 Supporting learning. We’ll continue working alongside our teachers to create classrooms where students feel supported, expectations are clear, and learning comes first.

It’s a new week, and we’re ready for it! Let’s keep showing up, holding high expectations, and taking care of one another. 💙💛
