Happy Mother’s Day!
Our school is inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, where learning is based on creative play and exploration in a motivating and nurturing environment.
Little Atelier of Young Children acknowledges children's unlimited potential. We value the child as strong, capable and resilient; rich with wonder and knowledge. Happy Mother’s Day!
Today in art, we explored The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh.
We wondered together:
If the artist were standing in the middle of the painting, what might he have seen? What might he have heard?
We talked about the sparkling stars, the gentle wind, and the dancing trees—how Van Gogh expressed these through his brushstrokes.
As we observed the painting, we explored the idea of movement, ways of expression, and the overall mood of the artwork.
While painting, the children listened to “Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)”, allowing the music to deepen their connection to the piece.
I wish we had a big space where we could preserve and display the children’s artworks, structures, and photos exactly as they created them. Each one is truly precious.

There is something exciting about the traces left behind by things that disappear.
With the 5–6 years olds, we placed colorful bubbles onto paper and watched as they slowly popped, leaving beautiful patterns and marks behind. Waiting for the moment the bubbles burst was part of the joy of the process.

“Let’s build it tall and taller!
Today, we’re stacking everything as high as we can!”
Layer by layer, many children’s hands came together to create this beautiful structure.

Time spent making marks with paint is always exciting.
Rather than focusing on what appears on the paper, children experience how the paper fills with color depending on the speed, direction, and movement of their own arms. This brings a strong sense of satisfaction.
The classroom fills with children’s exclamations, laughter, and heightened voices, and when they have had enough time to fully experience the process, their confident, proud expressions remind us that today, too, they have grown—just a little more.
