When Quinn Lukas and Dan Moore (owners of School of Rock South Hills and School of Rock Wexford) talk about School of Rock, they keep coming back to the relationships they’ve built, from a unified network of other franchise owners they can call when they need advice to students and families who've been part of their school for years.

to become a vocal powerhouse, you have to train your voice like one! 🎤💪

here are some vocal warmups perfect for vocalists of any skill level ⬇️

1️⃣yawn-sigh technique: simply yawn (take in air) with your mouth closed. then, exhale through your nose as if you are sighing. this will help relax your voice and improve its range.

2️⃣humming: place the tip of your tongue behind your bottom front teeth and hum up and down the major scale while keeping your mouth closed. each note should sound like “hmmm” — including the “h” sound is less taxing on your voice. humming is one of the BEST vocal warm-ups because it doesn’t put a lot of strain on your vocal cords!

3️⃣lip buzz: lip buzz (or lip trill) is very simple. the goal is to make a motorboat sound by making your lips vibrate as you blow air through your mouth and nose. (you can incorporate pitch slides as well!)

4️⃣pitch glide: for this easy vocal warm-up, make an “eeee” or “ohhhh” sound and gradually glide through the chromatic notes of a two-octave range. glide up and then back down. this will transition from your chest voice to your head voice.

💡remember: singing, like any physical activity, takes a lot of effort. practicing vocal warmups every time you sing is KEY to having strong, healthy vocals ✨🎤

Clearwater, Florida - ready to rock? ⚡

School of Rock Clearwater is officially open and ready to teach the next generation of rockers, both kids and through their adult program! Husband and wife duo Jayme and Maria decided to open their own school and bring the purpose behind School of Rock to the Clearwater community after witnessing firsthand the impact that School of Rock had on their children's growth and confidence.

Their Grand Opening was a huge bash, complete with live music (of course) and support from local schools and businesses. That grand opening energy is now being carried into lessons, rehearsals, and performances.

want to find your vocal range? it only takes 4 steps! 🎤✨

1️⃣ start with a natural, relaxed hum and find that note on a piano. this is about where your speaking voice sits.

2️⃣take a deep breath and start doing gentle “sirens” up to warm up your vocal chords. do this 3-5 times!

3️⃣starting at the note you hummed at, follow the notes downwards, five at a time, saying “zah zah zah” until you feel your voice start to strain. when you can’t sing a note well, mark it as your lowest note.

4️⃣do the same thing going up, starting at that same baseline note while saying “zee zee zee”. When you can’t sing a note well, mark it as your highest note.
