🎶 The power of the plot! 🚗 💨

Last week 8th graders in Mr. Childs & Mrs. Lopez’ classes took a different route into literary analysis by using Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” to examine the elements of plot. Students listened closely, analyzed the story within the lyrics, and mapped the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.

Songs are stories too, and “Fast Car” gave us plenty to discuss: dreams of escape, conflict, hope, disappointment, and the realization that sometimes the ending isn’t exactly what the character imagined.

It was a great way to show students that the skills we use to analyze literature extend far beyond the pages of a book. 📚🎵

Tiger Nation, yesterday we held our FIRST PEP RALLY of the year, and it was definitely a day to remember!

🏐 Volleyball

Our gym was packed with Tiger Pride as we came together to celebrate the hard work, dedication, talent, and school spirit of our fall student-athletes and performers!

There’s just something special about seeing our students cheering for one another and our entire school coming together as ONE TIGER NATION! 💙💛

To all of our fall Tigers, we see the hours you put in, we are proud of you, and we can’t wait to cheer you on all season long!

🌿📚 Bringing Literature to Life! 🌱✨

Mrs. White’s 6th-grade gifted students took their learning beyond the pages of a book and into the garden! 🌻🪴

Inspired by Holly Goldberg Sloan’s Counting by 7s, students created their very own herb garden inspired by Willow, the novel’s remarkably gifted protagonist. 🌿💚 Willow finds comfort, refuge, and a creative outlet through her passion for gardening—and our students explored those same connections through this hands-on project!
