Please don’t think I’m boasting or bragging on myself this is just to let people know what we do and where we do it. My thanks to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department for all the kind words. I only pray I can live up to them
🌟 Spotlight on Dedication: Ms. Cheryl Clarke 🌟
Approximately 8 months ago, the Baldwin County Corrections Center launched the R.E.P. Program (Re-entry Education and Preparedness), providing counseling, trauma-informed mental health support, church services, anger management, and GED education.
One person who has truly stood out in this program is Ms. Cheryl Clarke from the North Baldwin Literacy Council. Ms. Clarke has been our sole GED instructor since the program began, teaching twice a week, Mondays for men and Tuesdays for women. Despite being in a motorized wheelchair, she doesn’t let anything stop her mission to help others achieve their educational goals.
Her passion, care, and dedication are remarkable. She prepares lessons, administers tests, and guides her students through the GED curriculum, all on her own and supported by donations and grants. Since the program began, two students have earned their GEDs, with two more close to completing the curriculum. Currently, nine students are enrolled.
Ms. Clarke also shares her talents with Teen Challenge and Shotgun Barbecue, positively impacting lives across our community. Her dedication is a true blessing to those striving for a better future.
If you would like to support this incredible work, consider donating to the North Baldwin Literacy Council at 251-610-9036. As a 501(c)(3) organization, donations are tax-deductible and go directly toward providing educational opportunities to those who need them most.
The R.E.P. Program is a shining example of collaboration between the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Corrections Center, the North Baldwin Literacy Council, and volunteers like Ms. Clarke, working together to provide valuable resources for those re-entering society.
