🍪✨ Kids Create: Sweet Treat Cookie Decorating Workshop ✨🍪

Grab your apron and bring your creativity! Join us for a fun-filled afternoon where children and their families will learn the basics of cookie decorating while creating delicious works of art together.

🎉 The fantastic owner of TLC Bakery will be teaching this class!

During this hands-on workshop, families will learn beginner-friendly decorating techniques including:
🎨 Working with icing and decorating tools
🎨 Creating colorful designs and patterns
🎨 Adding texture with sprinkles and toppings
🎨 Turning simple cookies into beautiful edible creations

But the best part isn't the cookies—it's the experience.

We've established our Kids Create classes because we believe learning should be creative, memorable, and shared. This workshop gives families the opportunity to slow down, work side-by-side, and enjoy quality time together while learning a new skill.

📚 Texas Public School Testing Changes Are Coming

Beginning in the 2027-2028 school year, STAAR will be replaced with a new state assessment system.

Some facts parents should know:

• Students in grades 3-8 will be tested three times per year instead of once at the end of the year.

• Assessments will be given at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year.

• While each test is expected to be shorter than the current STAAR exam, students will participate in more testing throughout the year.

• Schools will be expected to monitor student performance more frequently using these assessment results.

• The new system is designed to track student growth throughout the school year rather than relying on a single end-of-year score.

• State testing will remain a part of public education accountability.

As educators, we believe meaningful learning happens through hands-on experiences, critical thinking, creativity, exploration, and strong relationships—not simply through standardized assessments.

No matter how state testing changes, our focus remains on helping students develop a love of learning, confidence in their abilities, and the skills they need to thrive.

Enrollment is open to the public for ages 4-12! Attendance is very flexible, offering full-time or selective date options! 📅

Camp schedule will be 9am-1pm Tuesdays + Thursdays in July, beginning July 7th. It will be held on 35 beautiful acres at the Matagorda County Birding Nature Center. 🌿

Students will have outdoor and indoor hands-on activities each day, such as building a bird house, nature scavenger hunts, bug observation games + more! 🐛🍂

All materials will be provided. Students are asked to bring a packed lunch, a water and sun protection. Extra water and healthy snacks will also be provided! 🍓🥑

Enrollment is limited to 30 students and seats are already filling! ⏰

Enrollment is open to the public for ages 4-12! Attendance is very flexible, offering full-time or selective date options! 📅

Camp schedule will be 9am-1pm Tuesdays + Thursdays in July, beginning July 7th, at the Matagorda County Birding Nature Center. 🌿

Each day has a unique biblical theme. Students will memorize a Bible verse and have one outdoor and one indoor, hands-on project/activity each day, relating to the day’s theme. Some activity examples include building a bird house, nature scavenger hunts, bug observation games + more! 🐛🍂

All materials will be provided. Students are asked to bring a packed lunch, a water and sun protection. Extra water and healthy snacks will also be provided! 🍓🥑
