Happy Back to School Week!! 📚📝🚌

As Bay County students head back to school this week, please remember to use a little extra caution on the roads—especially during the early morning hours and when school lets out. Slow down, stay alert, watch for children, and always stop for school buses when required. Together, we can help keep our students and bus stops safe!

And don’t forget to use a little extra patience and kindness for those busy school pick-up and drop-off lines. 😊🚗

We hope all of our Bay County students, families, teachers, and school staff have a safe and great first week back! 🎉

"The Bay City Morning Rotary Club & Rotary Club of Bay City will once again be hosting Vocational Day on Tuesday, November 10th! This program is a 3 hour job shadow for Bay County Juniors and Seniors. Students then join our Rotary clubs for a luncheon with a special guest speaker. We are thrilled to announce that Chris Easlick from WNEM will be our luncheon speaker this year.

We are looking for a diverse group of employers to join our effort this year. In particular, we are looking for employers in the following fields: engineering, veterinary, computer science, skilled trades, architecture, and any other unique field.

The goal of the program is to immerse our local high school students in careers that are available right here in Bay County and the Great Lakes Bay Region. McLaren has long served as our anchor employer welcoming 50 to 75 students every single year. Thank you for your incredible and steadfast support!

If you are interested in participating, please contact Vocational Day Co-Chair Sara Elizabeth Parker at Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and we will get you signed up to host students this year!"

Apprenticeship Week is here, and it’s a great time to highlight the impact of hands-on training in building a strong workforce.

Registered Apprenticeships create real opportunities—helping individuals gain skills, earn a paycheck, and step into in-demand careers, while giving employers a reliable way to grow their talent from within.

Programs like these play an important role in strengthening our local economy and preparing the workforce of tomorrow right here in Bay County.

Yesterday 6th graders at Standish Elementary, learned about their personality styles, strengths and interests related to secondary, postsecondary and future career plans. The students were excited to review results of interest surveys in Xello (a program provided by BAISD) that matched them up with possible future careers to explore.

This is a good example of how to introduce careers into the classroom to help students explore postsecondary options.

We were excited to welcome back a familiar face to Garber today!

Garber graduate Parker Jatczak visited our Accounting classes to share about his career as an accountant with Dow Chemical. He spoke with students about what his work looks like, the many different career paths within the accounting field, and helped clear up some common misconceptions about the profession.

We’re grateful that Parker takes the time each year to return to Garber and give back by sharing his experiences with our students. Thank you for inspiring the next generation!
