Announcements August 21st, 2026

Interested students, stop by room 117 to sign up for Denkeepers.

Senior Program: SOAR (Shaping Our Appalachian Region) at 10am in the Gym.

Open Court today 3:00-4:30pm for students interested in going out for tennis. You must have a current sports physical in order to participate.


The drama club will be holding auditions next week for "Anne of Green Gables" and "Alice in Winter Wonderland." Students may see a drama club member or Ms. Freyer to sign up.


Students: As a reminder, all students must leave school property immediately following dismissal at 2:45 PM. The only exception is for students actively participating in a school-sponsored extracurricular activity, sport, or supervised study session. Thank you for your cooperation.


EHO’s must be signed and approved prior to the days being taken.

Students can now pick up parking permit applications only. The parking passes that are displayed in your vehicle will not be here until next week.

Yearbook ads are now on sale: ¼ Page is $50.00, ½ Page is $75.00 and a full-page ad is $125.00. Ads must be paid in full by February 28th.



Yearbooks are also on sale for $65.00. You may make a $5.00 down payment to hold a yearbook. Yearbooks must be paid in full by May 3rd.

See Mrs. Holly Alred or any member of the yearbook staff to purchase or make a down payment on an ad or yearbook.

Each month, HCHS is going to be hosting different attendance challenges. Teachers will nominate one student per week that has had excellent attendance, or an improvement in their attendance. At the end of each month, nominated students will be entered for a chance to win a prize. The challenge for August is Start Strong. Show up and succeed, HC!

The Harlan County FFA is selling mums for $18. Orders can be placed with an FFA Member or Mr. Brock. Mums are expected to arrive around September 25th. Mums must be paid for before they are picked up
