*SHOW DETAILS*
‘Holiday Inn’ is a nostalgic trip back into the music and heart of post-WWII America. Created around the gigantic radio and recording hits of the time by American songwriter Irving Berlin, 'Holiday Inn' celebrates not just Christmas, but all holidays seasons with songs including ‘Blue Skies’, ‘Heat Wave’, Plenty to be Thankful For’, ‘Cheek to Cheek’, ‘Shaking the Blues Away’, ‘Be Careful, It’s My Heart’ and, of course, ‘White Christmas’. Our production will swell audiences’ hearts to capacity given those timeless classics will be played by a full live pit orchestra. Filled to the brim with humor and lots of lively dance, we are looking for actors, singers and dancers who can do a bit of it all- but those with tap dance experience are especially welcome! The show features a small cast of 6 named characters and a broad ensemble of supporting company to bring the songs and humor to life. We are looking to cast up to 20 performers total for this production.

This production is being created in full collaboration between KCC Theatre’s faculty and staff and the professional staff of What A Do Theatre Company. This will mark the second collaborative production between the two Battle Creek theatre mainstays- our first was ‘Into the Woods’ in spring of 2025.

Performances are 6 shows over the weekends of Nov. 13-15 and 20-22. Cast list will be posted by noon on Tuesday, Sept. 29. First company meeting will take place that evening at 7:00pm. Those cast MUST be available (and have transportation) at least 4 weeknights every week until opening night from 7-9:30pm on KCC’s campus. There will be *required* weekend tech rehearsals from 1-6pm on Nov. 7-8.

Feel free to post any questions in the comments- we look forward to seeing you in a few weeks!

THE SHOWS

Irving Berlin’s ‘Holiday Inn’

Our Fall 2026 show, ‘Holiday Inn’, tells the story of Jim, who leaves the bright lights of show business behind to settle down on his farmhouse in Connecticut... but life just isn't the same without a bit of song and dance. Jim's luck takes a spectacular turn when he meets Linda, a spirited schoolteacher with talent to spare. Together they turn the farmhouse into a fabulous inn with dazzling performances to celebrate each holiday, from Thanksgiving to the Fourth of July. But when Jim's best friend Ted tries to lure Linda to Hollywood to be his new dance partner, will Jim be able to salvage his latest chance at love?

Based on the classic film, this joyous musical features thrilling dance numbers, laugh-out-loud comedy and a parade of hit Irving Berlin songs, including "Blue Skies," "Easter Parade," "Steppin' Out With My Baby," "Heat Wave," "White Christmas," "Be Careful, It's My Heart," "Cheek to Cheek," "Shaking the Blues Away" and many more!

Performed with a full live pit orchestra and a creative team comprised of both KCC Theatre and What A Do Theatre Company regulars, ‘Holiday Inn’ auditions will be open to actors, singers and dancers ages 16 and up- come make nostalgia with us. More audition details coming soon!

‘Curse of the Albatross’

Then, in the spring of 2027, we’ve got something special waiting in the wings.

‘Curse of the Albatross’ tells the tale of young pickpocket Jane MacGregor- on a search for her long lost father as she crosses paths with the cunning pirate ‘Tragedy’ Jack, whose secrets point toward a terrible truth. Joined by what remains of his crew, they embark on a voyage to Pardon's Pyre, an island where untold treasures, and an unknown hunger, await…

Written by Garrett W. Martin, who recently appeared on KCC Theatre’s Binda Auditorium stage in Treasure Island and Rehearsal for Murder, Curse of the Albatross is a dark, riveting and poetic blend of pirate adventure and Ancient Greek tragedy. Our production will be the world premiere of this show- produced in recognition of both the excellent script by a recent KCC grad, and in honor of KCC’s 70th anniversary since our founding in 1956.

Come join us for fun and adventure this season- and experience what makes theatre the ultimate artistic analog experience!
