We have received word of the passing of Bruce Goldsmith on August 30, 2026. He was at the 80th birthday bash the week before. I was glad I had a chance to briefly chat with him. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. at Hampton Funeral Home, 4204 Ann Arbor Road, Jackson, Michigan 49202. The 80th Birthday Bash was GREAT!!!!! A big THANK YOU to the over 80 classmates who joined us for that occasion. It was truly uplifting to see "old" friendships renewed and new ones made, the smiles on peoples faces and the hugs that went around. A shout out to those who traveled from out-of-state to join us, from FL, PA, AZ, TN to name a few and those who joined us for the very first time. For those who took pictures and wish to share them with the class, please send them to us and we will post them. Please continue to stay in touch with our classmates, we were a great class overall. We will be doing our monthly luncheon get together and they will be posted in case you are around and wish to join us.

We have received word of the passing of Charlene (Dietz) Swank. Her husband, Gary Swank, (who also graduated with us) stopped by our 80th birthday bash to inform Joe Blythe. Gary chose not to stay at the party. She passed away on July 22,, 2026. Our thoughts are with Gary and the rest of the family. There is no obituary and no services planned.

We held a “class reunion “ tonight labeled The 80th Birthday Bash to celebrate our class turning 80 this year. We had a great turnout! Enjoyed talking to so many classmates. Several people participated in the “duck lips” challenge. Thanks all! Just because you are 80, you don’t have to stop having fun!

We have learned of the passing of Bob Breslin. He passed away on July 29, 2026. He was living in Florida.

July luncheon. I was unable to attend due to a conflict in scheduling. Sure missed these people! Thanks to Nancy (Schmidt) Lyon for handling the cookie contribution and for any pictures that she took. Also to Marcia Weiss for pictures she may have taken. Looks like you had a good time and I missed all of you.

And thank you to all who signed it… Steve Murray, Rob Weiss, Pat Mayo, Jane Underwood, Nancy Schmidt, Jim Gysel, Terry Taylor, Dave Hyslop, Sharon Maltby and Richard Bush.

I saw Cindy Wood and Leona Lindsay a few years ago when I was in Battle Creek briefly. It was so great to see therm.

I have some fond memories of Battle Creek… Henry’s Ice Cream, skating on the pond in Irving Park, Elizabeth Street where I lived, Miss Wafefield (math class), MIss Torongo (English) and Mr. Snook (Physics). I also think about WK, and Washington Elementary School where I still remember classmates all the way from kindergarten through WK and Central… Caesar Sams, Doris Valentine, Evelyn Wilkins, Eileen Brown, Vernon Dodd and Mickey Gifford.

I’m not retired. I won’t ever retire. I’m a working artist and have no intention of stopping until I’m no longer on this beautiful Earth.
