We ventured out to the Air Zoo today. It was a perfect day for celebrating and exploring. There is something really special about watching children experience things for the first time. The wide eyes when they saw the airplanes, the excitement of pushing the buttons on the exhibits, and the endless stream of “Look at this!” and “Come see!” moments.

Children explore the world with such pure curiosity. They ask questions we never think to ask, and notice details we might walk right past. Getting to witness that wonder and share in their excitement is one of the greatest joys of caring for young children.

Today wasn’t just a field trip. It was a day full of discovery, imagination, and a lot of happy little voices echoing through the museum.

I’m so grateful I get to be part of these moments.

I’m excited to share that Merryland Childcare has been approved to participate in the PreK for All Pilot Program!

PreK for All is a state-funded program designed to give young children access to high-quality early learning before kindergarten. Through this pilot, the State of Michigan will pay for preschool for eligible 3-year-olds in our care. This means families will no longer have to pay tuition for their 3-year-old’s preschool experience while they attend Merryland Childcare.

The state has never allowed In Home Child Cares to participate in PreK for All. This summer they are opening 75 spots to home providers and Merryland Childcare got approved for three of them.

This program helps make early education more accessible for families and gives children the opportunity to build important skills through play, learning, and social development before entering kindergarten.

I’m honored that Merryland Childcare was selected to be part of this pilot and excited to bring this opportunity to the families in our community.

A benefit of in-home childcare is we don't close for snow days. I have no commute to work so if you can get your child to me safely, I will care for them. While all of the local schools are closed as well as many childcare centers, we are all together and enjoying the snow. It's an extra special day because our school agers are with us to help us with our play.

We made a snowman today. Some children worked on and off leaving the activity and coming back. Some children worked from start to finish. They chose all of the elements of the snowman's decorations. I love their creativity.

We are going to read this book tomorrow about what the snowman gets into at night when all of the children are sleeping. It will extend their learning in such an exciting way.
