LSU Engineering researchers are taking on big health challenges, from drug-resistant cancer to safer MRI imaging to new technology that could expand access to ADHD behavioral therapy.
Three faculty-led projects have received more than $5.5 million in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding, supporting research by Manas Gartia, Jimmy Lawrence and David C. Shepherd.
Their work shows how engineering can help drive new tools for medicine, diagnosis and patient care.

What if electricity could be generated from small temperature changes without burning fuel?
LSU Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Professor Guoqiang Li and Postdoctoral Researcher Chengbin Yu have developed a new method that turns tiny temperature differences into electricity using phase-changing materials.
The team is now exploring industry partnerships and commercialization opportunities through the LSU Innovation and Technology Commercialization office.
