NMEC's mission is to lead the Maritime industry in the development, promotion, and implementation of a national maritime workforce system.
NMEC is a multi-regional, industry-centered, national organization working to address credit workforce issues facing the maritime industry:
-Aging workforce
-Lack of technically skilled workers
-Lack of defined, standardized skill-sets, curricula, credentials,a nd career paths for production crafts
-Cost of recruiting, hiring, testing, and training workers
-High turnover rates

We need to start talking about trade careers in high school | Opinion If students know there are more ways to find a fulfilling and well-paying job than they might realize, I believe more would do what I did.
