Small acts of kindness can make a big difference. ❤️
FranU’s food pantry helps support students in our community by providing access to essential food and resources. Your donation can help ensure that no student has to choose between their education and a meal.
We invite you to join us in caring for others through generosity and service. If you would like to support the pantry, financial donations can be made at franu.edu/giving/make-a-gift by selecting “Student Food Pantry” as the designation. Food and personal item donations may be dropped off in the Student Affairs Suite on the second floor of St. Francis Hall, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference. ❤️

“My name is Monei Thomas, a 34-year-old woman whose life has been shaped by resilience, faith and determination.”
Thomas’ story begins in Carbondale, Illinois. The youngest of seven children, her world shifted when her mother passed away. At just a year and a half old, she moved to Detroit to be raised by her grandmother, an experience that instilled strength and perseverance at an early age.
“Years later, just before starting high school, I faced another turning point when my grandmother became ill,” Thomas said.
She returned to Illinois to live with her eldest sister, and shortly after graduating high school, she joined the United States Army to serve as a Military Police Officer.
“Basic training taught me more than physical strength. It built mental resilience to push through challenges I once thought impossible,” she said. “My deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan strengthened my discipline, teaching me the importance of vigilance and the dangers of complacency in both high-stakes environments and everyday life.”
Her time in the military began her formation as a leader.

This Jubilee Year of St. Francis is a time to reflect on a legacy rooted in humility, compassion and joyful service. ❤️
Inspired by the life of St. Francis, we are reminded to care for others, live with purpose and lead with love in all that we do. At FranU, the Franciscan spirit continues to shape our community and guide the way we serve those around us.
Anyone in the community can participate in the Jubilee by making a pilgrimage to La Verna Chapel in St. Francis Hall. Those who make a pilgrimage to a Franciscan church during the Jubilee year may receive a plenary indulgence by completing the traditional conditions:
• Make a pilgrimage to a Franciscan church
• Pray for the intentions of the Pope
• Receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation
• Receive the Eucharist
• Be sincerely committed to turning away from sin
These steps are meant to deepen faith and strengthen a person’s relationship with God. Learn more at franu.edu/jubilee.

The Franciscan Experience at FranU offers students a meaningful journey centered on faith, service and authentic community. 💚
Guided by the Franciscan tradition, participants are invited to grow through prayer, reflection, conversation and hands-on opportunities to serve others. This experience encourages students to explore their purpose while developing personally, spiritually and academically.
At FranU, education is about more than earning a degree. It is about becoming a compassionate leader who serves with humility, joy and heart. The Franciscan Experience reflects that mission in a powerful and lasting way.
