Maps used to show us where things were. Today, they help us understand what’s happening, why it matters, and where to take action.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/esri/2026/05/11/a-new-operating-system-for-the-whole-world/
In this recent Forbes article, Jack Dangermond shares how modern, AI-enabled mapping systems are transforming decision-making across industries — from education and workforce development to environmental stewardship and community resilience.
At Global Geospatial Institute (GGI), this vision is exactly why we have dedicated our nonprofit to expanding access to Esri ArcGIS for K–12 students, teachers, and lifelong learners. Through hands-on learning with GIS, drones, StoryMaps, dashboards, and real-world data, we are helping learners build the skills needed to understand and shape the world around them.
The future belongs to those who can turn data into insight — and insight into action. 🌎🗺️✨
A New Operating System For The Whole World
For 4,000 years mapping showed us the world from a new point of view. Modern AI enabled maps are now running the world.

From April 14–16, the Louisiana Remote Sensing & GIS Workshop (LARSGIS) in Lafayette brought together students and GIS professionals for an exciting few days of collaboration, innovation, and connection.
Attendees had the opportunity to showcase their work, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. One highlight included Coy from Fenstermaker demonstrating indoor mapping using the Apple headset, an impressive look at the future of geospatial tech!
We’re also proud to have GGI (Global Geospatial Institute) Alumni, Sean Green, in attendance. It’s exciting to see him exploring opportunities and connecting with GIS companies across Louisiana.
