On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the Southern University Alumni Federation, East Baton Rouge Parish Chapter, awarded scholarships totaling $9,500, to three 2026 high school graduates, and uniform scholarships to six nursing students. The high school scholarship recipients are Kaila Anthony, Reginald Ellis, II, and Braxtyn Dumas (not pictured). Included in the photos are Elouise Thomas (committee co-chair) and Rochelle Elie (chapter president). The nursing scholarship recipients are Keon Brown, Laila Cost, Ariel Leatherwood-Garret, Skyla Lawrence, Bria Guillot, and Logan Brown. Included in the photo are Pat Derozan (Derozan family scholarship originator), Rosalyn Thyssen, PhD, MHA, MSN, RN (Southern University and A&M College – College of Nursing and Allied Health), Rochelle Elie (chapter president), and Joyce Derozan (Derozan family scholarship originator). A special thank you is extended to the 2025-2026 scholarship committee: Rosa Jefferson, Karen Marchand, Karen Austin-Jack, Elouise Thomas (committee co-chair), LeTricia Burns, and Marketa Paul. Our regular chapter meeting will be TODAY, at 6:00 P.M. It will be an in-person meeting, held at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Catholic Student Center, 586 Harding Blvd. (next to the Valdry Center for Philanthropy) on Southern University's campus.

We will present the 2026 scholarship recipients to the chapter members in the June meeting.
