7th graders in Ms. Betty Brignac’s science class took on the challenge of dissecting owl pellets to identify the bones of animals owls have eaten. It may have come with a few shocked and squeamish reactions, but our young scientists stuck with it to uncover what was inside! 💙🤍🩵

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at Mass with a little extra Blue Jay spirit!
We were excited to recognize our Mercy students who represented our school so well at Youth Leg, with two of their bills successfully passed during this year’s Youth Legislature session. Congratulations to all of our Blue Jays who participated!
Our celebration included a visit from Kilts & Kisses, who helped recognize our Youth Leg students, and a surprise send-off from Father Cleo that had everyone feeling the Irish spirit. 💙🍀🤍

Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.” – J.R.R. Tolkien
After finishing their reading of The Hobbit, our 7th graders celebrated with Hobbit Day! From dressing in creative character costumes to watching the animated film and sharing themed snacks, students enjoyed stepping into Tolkien’s world one more time. 💙🤍🩵
Little Saints through 1st grade had a wonderful visit from Louisiana children’s author and musician Johnette Downing last week!
She spent the morning sharing some of her beloved books, including Today Is Monday in Louisiana and Chef Creole, along with songs that had our students singing, dancing, and joining in. Her energy and storytelling brought the stories to life, making it a joyful and engaging morning for our youngest Blue Jays.
We are so grateful she took the time to visit Mercy and share her talents with our students! 💙📚🤍

Earlier this week, our 2nd graders took part in one of Mercy’s cherished traditions—the Shiny Nickel talk with Mr. Fred. Joined by their religion teacher, Mrs. Kathy Jones, he helped them understand how confession cleanses our hearts, just like a tarnished coin can be polished until it shines bright again.
As they prepare for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation that they’ll be receiving tonight, we are so proud of our 2nd graders and wish them peace and confidence as they take this special step in their faith journey. 💙🤍🩵
Today we proudly announced the name of our new special education program launching next year at Mercy: The Marian Program, named in honor of Mary and her example of love and compassion. We are excited for the opportunities this program will bring to our school community and the students it will serve. To celebrate the announcement, each student received their own Blue Jay and a Marian Medal. 💙🤍🩵
