We are so proud of our faculty member, Kristina Shiroma, who spearheaded a grant to combat ageism and educate older adults.

As the population of those 65 and older continues to grow, library services for older adults must evolve and expand, too.

The LSU School of Information Studies Hooding Ceremony is more than a graduation, it is also a celebration of years of hard work, perseverance, and dedication to the information professions.

This spring, SIS faculty, staff, family, and friends gathered to recognize the accomplishments of our newest graduates as they crossed the stage and were hooded, symbolizing their transition from students to information professionals ready to make an impact in libraries, archives, museums, schools, businesses, government agencies, and communities around the world.

Whether you are a graduate looking to relive the moment, a family member who couldn't attend, or a member of the SIS community who wants to celebrate the Class of 2026, we invite you to watch the full ceremony on our YouTube channel.

Congratulations again to our graduates, we are so proud of all you have accomplished and look forward to seeing where your journey takes you next.

Update: You showed up in a big way and we are so thankful! 💜

We’re excited to share that we’ve officially met our first $1,000 matching challenge in honor of Dr. Alma Dawson, sponsored by Dr. Benoit. Because of your generosity, those gifts were doubled to support future SIS students.

But we’re not done yet.

Former Director Dr. Carol Barry is stepping in with a second $1,000 matching challenge. Dr. Barry, who is retiring this May, has generously pledged another match for the next $1,000 donated this afternoon and evening to round out our Giving Day and help us move towards establishing a Dr. Alma Dawson Scholarship.

Help us continue building the Alma Dawson Scholarship, and honor her legacy of mentorship, access, and community impact.
