Update: You showed up in a big way and we are so thankful! 💜
We’re excited to share that we’ve officially met our first $1,000 matching challenge in honor of Dr. Alma Dawson, sponsored by Dr. Benoit. Because of your generosity, those gifts were doubled to support future SIS students.
But we’re not done yet.
Former Director Dr. Carol Barry is stepping in with a second $1,000 matching challenge. Dr. Barry, who is retiring this May, has generously pledged another match for the next $1,000 donated this afternoon and evening to round out our Giving Day and help us move towards establishing a Dr. Alma Dawson Scholarship.
Help us continue building the Alma Dawson Scholarship, and honor her legacy of mentorship, access, and community impact.

The School of Information Studies is proud to participate in LSU Giving Day in honor of the late Professor Emerita Alma Dawson.
Dr. Dawson devoted her career to advancing library and information studies, mentoring generations of students, and expanding access to education. Her leadership and scholarship shaped SIS in lasting and meaningful ways.
This year, gifts to the SIS General Scholarship Fund will help establish a scholarship in her name, ensuring future Tigers have the opportunity to learn, lead, and serve.
Join us in honoring her legacy. Make your gift on March 25, 2026.
