Best Graduate Poster Presentation Award

Mr. Sashidhar Muppirisetty, a graduate student from the Department of Computer Science at Southern University Baton Rouge, achieved the best graduate poster presentation award in the division of computer science, math, and statistics, during the 92nd Annual Meeting of the Louisiana Academy of Sciences (LAS) at Louisiana State University Alexandria, March 10, 2018.

Muppirisetty’s research title was "Development of web-based online quiz system."

Dr. Mohammad Abdus Salam, professor and graduate coordinator, Department of Computer Science, who supervised and co-authored the research said, "This application was developed to meet the need of an online quiz system and it can be customized to use in any other platform. The proposed application can be conveniently used to prepare and administer an online quiz."

The LAS meeting is an excellent venue to celebrate scientific excellence in Louisiana and to foster discussion among peer groups of scientists. The LAS encourages especially presentations from both undergraduate and graduate students at the annual conference is a supportive environment in which students will have an opportunity to hone their presentation skills, make connections with other scientists in their field, and become informed about the study and research opportunities within the State.

This year three graduate students (Vidya Sagar Bandaru, Sashidhar Muppirisetty, and Ashok Gade) from the Department of Computer Science attended the LAS conference.

The authors acknowledge Dr. Ebrahim Khosravi, professor and chair of the Department of Computer Science, for his encouragement and support.
