The Brighton School is an independent, non-profit K–12 school dedicated to the teaching of bright, capable students who learn differently.

We specialize in helping students with dyslexia and other language-based learning differences reach their full potential, foster their confidence and creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Meet Miss Jordyn! 💙

After completing a year-long Residency at Southeastern, Miss Jordyn discovered her love for teaching K/1. She’s passionate about creating a safe, nurturing classroom where students feel loved, supported, and confident to take risks and grow.

She’s grateful to be part of Brighton, where purposeful play helps our youngest learners build social-emotional, motor, communication, and academic skills. We’re so happy to have her helping our littlest learners shine! ✨

Congratulations to Dr. Hodges! This past Friday, he successfully passed through the final phase of his PhD journey. With family, friends and former teachers in attendance, Dr. Hodges presented Leadership Practices in the Implementation of a Structured Literacy Program: An Instrumental Case Study.

Our staff is always working towards bettering themselves in order to better our school. We are so grateful to have him on our team and providing us with his knowledge and leadership! Thank you, Dr. Hodges!

Our Bengals volleyball team is already in full swing with three games under their belts! Every serve, set, and spike is more than just a play—it's a chance to build teamwork, resilience, leadership, and school spirit.

Meet the Brighton Faculty: Ms. Shirley Grimes

Shirley joined our team in the 2023 and has been a integral part of our reading center ever since!
She brings with her 31 years of experience in education, with specialized training in dyslexia, reading deficits, and individualized instruction. As a former Special Education Coordinator, she has supported teachers with IEPs, service plans, curriculum development, and instructional implementation. Shirley is passionate about helping every student succeed and wishes to create meaningful opportunities for all learners!
