Ph.D. graduate assistant Phillip Brahana is researching how microplastics travel through the environment and atmosphere as part of Dr. Bharti Bhuvnesh’s research group at LSU ChE

By studying how these tiny particles interact with water, sunlight, and other environmental conditions, Phillip’s work helps scientists better understand the impact of microplastics and how we can address growing environmental challenges.

A few weeks ago, our department had the opportunity to welcome prospective graduate students for an immersive introduction to LSU ChE. The visit included a tour of the Synchrotron facility at CAMD, home to the only facility of its kind in the South, followed by a reception with current graduate students and faculty.

The evening highlighted not only the depth of research opportunities available, but also the collaborative and supportive community that defines our program, all set against the backdrop of Louisiana’s rich cultural tradition of live jazz.
