CLAY, CAMP & A WHOLE LOT OF CREATING

This summer, our campers in Baton Rouge and New Orleans went deeper.

We raised the camp age slightly, traded a long list of smaller activities for a few bigger projects and gave everyone more time to plan, experiment and develop their ideas.

They started with the fundamentals — slipping and scoring, pinch pots, coil construction and sculpture — then took those skills into projects that were more detailed, more ambitious and straight out of their own imaginations.

We couldn't be more proud! These campers started as beginners and left as confident potters. That’s exactly what we want BellyFire to be: a place where people get enough guidance to start, enough freedom to experiment and enough time to surprise themselves.

01 — PAINT SOMETHING YOUR OWN
At BellyFire, come pick a piece from the shelf, choose your colors, and make it yours. We’ll have the glaze, tools, and guidance ready. Come with a plan or figure it out once you sit down.

02 — TRY CLAY
Take a wheel class with us, try a one-time experience, or spend a few weeks building your skills in a series.

You don’t need to know what you’re doing before you arrive. No experience required!

03 — BRING YOUR PEOPLE
Birthdays, family gatherings, team outings, bachelorettes, and celebrations are better when everyone gets to make something.

We host private pottery painting and wheel events for groups.

SCHOOL’S IN SESSION. CLAY IS HERE TO STAY!

Summer camp may be over, but we liked what happened when kids had uninterrupted time to make — so we’re bringing that energy into the school year.

School break camps are coming back, starting with Thanksgiving.

Expect hands-on clay projects, plenty of room to experiment, and the same mix of guidance and creative freedom that made summer so much fun!

Thanksgiving Camp is shaping up to be a good one.

August Newsletter

Happy August! Here's an update on what we've been working on this summer!

What an incredible summer we had at camp! We molded clay, painted vibrant designs, and learned new techniques that brought our projects to life. It was truly a joy to see young artists explore their creativity and bond over shared experiences. From crafting unique mugs to creating whimsical sculptures, every moment was filled with excitement and discovery. As we reminisce about the fun we had and the friendships formed, we’re already buzzing with ideas for our next camp. Stay tuned for updates, and thank you for being a part of our creative community!

Nightly Classes are in full swing!

We've got beginner wheel classes every night, Thursday-Sunday! Each day, we host 2 classes, perfect to fit anyone's schedule! We also offer private lessons all day long, all week long. If you're looking for the perfect work party, birthday party, or get-together, consider pottery! It brings everyone together with an unforgettable experience, and you get to keep your creation! Technique classes are the best way to get into pottery!

If you've always wanted to dive deeper and start doing pottery as a hobby, our technique classes are the perfect opportunity to dive in with an instructor by your side. There are so many benefits to working with an instructor hands-on before going on your own. Instructors help to build your confidence on the wheel, ensure your form is correct, and teach problem-solving to help you lose less clay! The August session has already started, but if you're looking to sign up, our September registrations are already open!

The time will pass anyways! If you’ve always wanted to do it but have never gotten around to it, you have to start or it will never happen!
If you’ve never done pottery before here’s what we recommend to get you to Mid City Mud:
1. Take a first time class, get a vibe for the space!
2. Take a technique series to get down the fundamentals
3. Take technique series until you’re comfortable on your own
4. Join Mid City Mud!
5. Boom, you’re a potter!

Nothing beats a busy day at Mid City Mud, where everyone is creating, chatting, and laughing together! It is the best place to unwind and do something creative!

We are full for now, but spots pop up occasionally for people on the waitlist. The sooner you get on, the better of a chance you’ve got!
