The LSU Office of Diversity & Inclusion is saddened to learn of the passing of Ernest Sickey, former Chairman of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana. Our state has lost a great leader and our hearts are with the Coushatta Tribe, Chairman Sickey’s son, David Sickey, a member of LSU’s National Diversity Advisory Board, and the rest of the Sickey family.

The Black Faculty & Staff Caucus’ (BFSC) purpose is to ensure and maintain equitable treatment of African American faculty and staff in promotions and job opportunities. The organization shall serve as an advocate for educational equity and a work environment free of racial tensions and biases with the liberty of investigating and addressing concerns. BFSC shall also monitor and address retention of minority faculty, staff and students. The organization shall provide assistance, education and social interaction for faculty, staff and students through workshops, lectures, seminars, meetings, professional development opportunities and employee assistance programs within and outside the University community.
