EBR Focus Choice Schools

Congratulations to Eva Legard Center for Coastal and Environmental Studies counselor, Yamica Carmouche, who will be featured on NBC Local 33 News and Fox 44 News as an "Extraordinary Educator of the Month." The segment is set to air Sept. 9 at 9 p.m. on Fox 44 and at 10 p.m. on NBC 33. Thank you for all of your hard work!

Ms. Colson's 7th grade STEM class took part in the statewide Global Geospatial Institute's StoryMap Competition. SEVEN of our students placed in the competition, with Eva Legard Center for Coastal and Environmental Studies finishing in the top 5 for the state. Students received a mock check as a certificate and will receive a cash prize.

The White Coat Ceremony symbolizes the importance of compassion in medical care at the start of medical training. Students from Park Medical Academy gathered at Baton Rouge General Medical Center to participate in this symbolic ceremony. Guest speakers included former State Representative, Ted James, Baton Rouge General physician, Dr. Vincent Shaw, as well as a few words from district employees. 6th grade students received their coats, and 7th grade students were presented with pins. Closing remarks were deliverd by Principal Tate before families surrounded their students in celebration of their growth this past year. Want to learn more about Park Medical Academy? It was time for a Teddy Bear check up at Baton Rouge General Medical Center this morning! Park Medical Academy students visited various stations centered around health and wellness. From phlebotomy to rehabilitation, students were exposed to several aspects of healthcare as demonstrated not only by Baton Rouge General staff, but some of their community partners from LSU Dentistry, as well as local first responders. Students at Park Medical Academy invited parents and EBRPSS representatives to their Spring showcase today! Some of our visitors even received a "check up" from their Pre-K students. Special thanks go out to our community partners at Baton Rouge General Medical Center for all of their influence and support to our programs.

Don't forget, this is the last week to submit an application for the Priority Pool. Submit your application before midnight Friday to be included in the Priority Pool.
What is the Priority Pool? Applicants who apply by December 1, 2023, will first be selected for seats based on the board-approved selection process; which includes sibling priority and proximity priority where this applies. Eligible applicants who applied after December 1st will be placed in a wait pool if seats are no longer available at the school of their choice.
