🚨TASK FORCE LEAD🚨️
JUNE 15-17, 2026, 8 am - 4:30 pm daily
The Task Force Leader Course within the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Response System prepares experienced personnel to lead Urban Search and Rescue Task Forces during complex disasters. It focuses on leadership, command, and coordination in high-risk, time-sensitive environments. Participants build skills in strategic decision-making, incident management, resource integration, and coordination with local, state, and federal partners under the Incident Command System (ICS). The course reinforces the leader’s responsibility for operational effectiveness, personnel safety, clear communication, and unity of effort, and is essential for those directing large-scale search and rescue operations with confidence, discipline, and accountability.

FEMA is making $648M available to help firefighters and first responders nationwide get the equipment, staffing and support they need to protect lives and communities. The funding includes:
• $291.6M for equipment, vehicles, PPE and responder wellness
• $324M to help departments hire, recruit and retain firefighters
• $32.4M for fire prevention and firefighter safety research
