Today we remember Dr. Ronald McNair, the first HBCU graduate to serve as an astronaut and the second African American in space. He, along with six others, perished in the Challenger explosion 35 years ago today. Ronald was a graduate of North Carolina A&T and MIT and an accomplished saxophonist. When he was only 8 years old, he fought for and won the right to check out books from his segregated library. Now, the library is named after him. (Source: Congresswoman Alma Adams)
