NEW DATE ANNOUNCED FOR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:
Dear Helix Families,
We hope this message finds you well and that your family has enjoyed a safe and restful summer.
In our continued efforts to support families and align more closely with the needs of our community, we are writing to inform you of an important update to our academic calendar. The first day of school for all Helix Community Schools will now be Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025.
Please note: Helix AI & Medical Academy students in Opelousas will have a staggered schedule: Students whose last name start with A - I start on Aug. 7: Students whose last name start with J - Z start on Aug. 8 and all students return on Aug. 11.
This adjustment brings our calendar more in line with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and many other area schools. We understand that many of our students have siblings attending schools across different districts, and this change will help streamline schedules for families and reduce transportation and childcare challenges during the first week of school.
Our teachers and staff are ready to welcome students with engaging learning experiences, strong routines, and a nurturing environment that supports both academic success and social-emotional development.
