Join SULC’s Louis A. Berry Institute for Civil Rights, Human Rights and Social Justice on June 27 at 11 a.m. for Coffee & Conversation, a virtual seminar exploring law, policy, social justice, human rights, dignity, resistance, and change.
The speaker, Govardhan Wankhede, will share insights from his memoir, “My Life: The Journey of a Dalit Sociologist,” and discuss his experiences navigating India's caste system, higher education, scholarship, and social advocacy.

Faculty Spotlight: Professor Peter Kochenburger continues to elevate the Law Center’s global presence through his expertise in insurance law.
Professor Kochenburger recently served as a speaker at the INLC 5th Annual Insurance Law Symposium in Nigeria, hosted by the Faculty of Law at Rivers State University (RSU).
From July 6–10, he will serve as a faculty member for the Advanced Studies on Insurance Law and Regulation course in Malta, an internationally recognized program sponsored by the University of Malta.
Professor Kochenburger is the only U.S. professor participating in both international programs, further demonstrating SULC's impact on legal scholarship and education!

The SULC Tech & Entrepreneurship Clinic in partnership with the University of New Orleans Urban Entrepreneurship and Policy Institute, is expanding access to legal guidance for Louisiana entrepreneurs through its Open Clinic Days, a series of educational legal consultation events.
During Spring and Summer 2026, the clinics provided one-on-one consultations to nearly 30 small businesses and entrepreneurs representing a variety of industries and stages of development, offering guidance on a wide range of issues affecting their businesses.
SULC Tech remains committed to growing its partnerships and strengthening Louisiana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by expanding access to legal education and resources while preparing the next generation of transactional attorneys to serve businesses and communities throughout the state.

Congratulations to Southern University Law Center Professors Genara Freeman-Morris and Charletta Fortson on presenting their co-authored paper, NextGen Collaboration: Building Bridges to Student Success, at two distinguished national conferences.
The paper, co-authored with Associate Vice Chancellor Prentice White, Professor Emily Shaffett, and Professor Arielle Young, highlights the impact of collaboration in fostering student success and advancing innovative approaches to legal education.
