Due to inclement weather, today’s Baker Chamber of Commerce Lunch and Learn event has been canceled.

WEATHER UPDATE: Out of an abundance of caution and due to the potential impact from Tropical Storm Arthur which includes heavy rainfall and possible heavy wind gusts, all Helix summer school classes in Baker and Baton Rouge have been canceled on tomorrow, Thursday, June 18, 2026 and our offices will also be closed. However, virtual classes will still take place. The safety of our students and staff is always our number one concern so we will continue to monitor the weather conditions. Please stay weather aware and make sure your family has a plan. Classes are scheduled to resume on Monday. We will keep you updated.

Need help preparing for the upcoming school year? Our offices are open this summer to assist families with enrollment, registration questions and back-to-school planning. We are currently enrolling students for all Helix schools and invite families to stop by during office hours for support.

Summer office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations:

Helix Community Schools Statement

We will continue to pray for the complete recovery of the young man who was injured. While local authorities continue to investigate and work to ensure the complete safety of our schools, Baker High School’s LEAP Remediation program will be virtual for the rest of the summer and all school activities have been suspended until further notice.

A shooting occurred at Baker High School today. A student was shot. The school is currently on lockdown. Baker Police are on site.

Families are invited to attend an Enrollment Information Session at Helix Mentorship & Maritime Academy tonight, June 10, at 6 p.m. at 339 Florida Blvd.

Learn how our maritime-focused program combines academic excellence, hands-on learning and a supportive school community to help students reach new heights. Staff will also be available to assist with enrollment and required documents.
