When you're really listening, that's when you learn the value of your team."

That's Beaux Jones, President & CEO of The Water Institute, on next week's episode of Teams That Win.

The Water Institute is a client of ours, and we sat with their leadership team while they worked through what their core values mean in practice.

Lacy Dicharry, our Senior Director, will talk with Beaux about:
• Turning core values into a shared agreement, starting by asking the whole staff what each one means to them
• Leading a team of lawyers, scientists, engineers and analysts who each communicate differently
• Moving from being the person who does the work to the person who leads the people doing it
• What makes vulnerability possible at work

We know you're going to get a lot of great ideas and strategies from this one. Excited to share this one on Tuesday, September 8th.

Someone can do good work for a long time and never hear how it affects the people they work with. Have you or someone on your team experienced this?

At the LSU Leadership Development Institute (LDI), we work with organizations on coaching, feedback, and the development support that keeps people engaged, as well as build strategies that keep people motivated by recognizing the impact behind everything they do.

If this is something that your team is working through, we'd like to hear about it. Let's connect, please send us a message.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and great moment to remind those we care about, at home or at work that they are not alone.

This month matters deeply to our senior director, Lacy, because of her own lived experience.

We can all make a difference, and it can start small: a text message, a kind question in a meeting, or sharing local resources with someone who needs to talk. We'll be sharing resources throughout the month.

If you or someone you know is having thoughts of su***de, call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline, or text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line. Both are free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day.

Creating a space for women in leadership across Louisiana.

The first cohort of the Women's Leadership Academy launched this past Friday. It is a six-month academy built together by the Junior League of Baton Rouge and the LSU Leadership Development Institute (LDI) for executive and advanced women leaders.

A partnership like this shows what we're capable of when we combine the strengths of multiple institutions.

Growth starts with how we treat the people around us.

A new semester at LSU is an opportunity to put into practice how we want to be treated, and it starts by leading with our own example.

Welcome back to everyone starting the fall semester at LSU!

We are excited to share the beginning of the Women’s Leadership Academy 2026-2027 cohort!

It is a program from the Junior League of Baton Rouge and LDI at LSU, built for women leading organizations across Louisiana. Today was the first session, featuring women leading in healthcare, government, nonprofits, corporate, education, and faith-based organizations.

It has been weeks of preparation, and we are excited to connect and build this together. Grateful for our collaboration with Junior League of Baton Rouge.

Only 19% of managers say they have strong delegation skills. (DDI, Leadership Trends 2026.)

What does that mean? If we are not able to delegate properly we can easily end up burning out or creating conflict that work that could easily be avoided.

Dr. Xavier Thompson, Assistant Professor of Sports Science in the School of Kinesiology at LSU, joins us on the Teams That Win Podcast this week to share the steps he took to finding potential in his teams and the strategies implemented to delegate and recognize that we can’t do it all.

“What are the things that only you can do, versus the things you can do?”

If this is a topic you feel connected to, we invite you to share and listen or watch this week’s episode:

How often does a project start without people being clear about their roles or expectations?

Dr. Xavier Thompson, Assistant Professor at LSU and a researcher in performance science and injury prevention, joins us on this week's episode of Teams That Win.
He talks about the pitfalls that can happen when we assume that others understand their roles and how that can impact the work environment.

How do we share what inspires us and where we're headed? And how do we support teammates who are feeling unmotivated?
