Your work matters.
As leaders, we spend a lot of time building others up.
- We celebrate their growth.
- We recognize their accomplishments.
- We remind them that what they do makes a difference.
But sometimes we forget to do the same for ourselves.
Leadership can feel lonely. The responsibilities are real, and the wins aren't always visible. Yet every conversation, decision, challenge navigated, and opportunity created leaves a mark.
Take a moment today to recognize your own impact.
The work you do matters.

Meet Juan 🍩
Juan is the Marketing and Content Lead at LDI, where he produces Teams That Win and shapes how LDI's work reaches the people it's built to serve.
The project that has mattered most to him is the podcast. He sees it as a space for connection and bonding, especially for leaders having tough days or in moments when they need to be led but aren't sure where to turn.
"Teams That Win exists to give a spotlight to the people who have transformed others' lives, and to share their stories so we can learn from their impact."
Juan is from Puerto Rico and has worked nationally with nonprofits and leaders to share what they do through visual storytelling. Fun fact: he's also a food vlogger.
When asked what makes a winning team, Juan shared:
"A winning team is one where everyone knows they don't have to be the expert at everything. When something hard comes up, the team leans on each other's strengths and moves through it together."

Nicole is the Leadership Program Assistant at LDI, where she helps support programs, people, and the behind-the-scenes work that brings meaningful leadership experiences to life.
One of the projects that made the biggest impact on her was working on the Sergeants Leadership Academy. She loved being part of something that genuinely supported others and created opportunities for growth and connection.
“Seeing the engagement, growth, and connections that came from the program made me genuinely happy.”
Through her work at LDI, Nicole says she’s learned a lot about her own leadership style and continues to grow in the areas where she wants to improve.
Nicole also speaks four languages — English, Tagalog, French, and Italian! 🌎
When asked what makes a winning team, Nicole shared:
“A winning team is one that sees everyone’s value, supports each other, and grows stronger together.”

A third of your life is spent at work. The people you work with matter, and the strongest leaders understand that people do their best work when they feel seen, heard, and valued.
Natasha Simoneaux, Program and Business Manager at the LSU Leadership Development Institute, believes that making space for people to be human at work does not weaken leadership — it strengthens it.
Leaders still make the final call, but inviting people into the conversation leads to better decisions, stronger trust, and teams that actually want to work together.
How does your team know they matter beyond the work they produce?
Natasha and Lacy discuss on Teams That Win.
