Bath CSD and its community partners helped families kick off the school year at the Back-to-School Bash on August 20. Families enjoyed hot dogs and lemonade as they played games, made arts and crafts projects and visited tables with information and freebies from community organizations offering necessities including new socks and toothbrushes to books and computer headphones. Families also were encouraged to “shop” the Ram-Mart farmers market for free produce, yogurt and bakery items. Other highlights included free haircuts from Garcia’s Barber Shop, the popular sneaker raffle sponsored by KanPak that awarded 100 pairs of brand new sneakers to the winners and the backpack give away, also sponsored by KanPak, that ensured every student in attendance received a new backpack stuffed with school supplies.
In addition to KanPak and Garcia’s Barber Shop, other community partners at the event included Catholic Charities of Steuben/Livingston, Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc., Dormann Library, Stacey’s Clothing Closet, Bath-Haverling Parent Teacher Association, Cornell Cooperative Extension Steuben County, Goodrich Auto Works, Bath Community Health and Institute for Human Services, Inc.
