Year 3 of the Wright Wilderness Experience had a fantastic get together with the campers, their families, WWE founders Dennis and Twyla Wright, and the pre-orientation float trip leaders, LEAP Director Mac Harn and Dr. Alexander Beeser. They were joined by WWE alumni and Cindy Barber and new dean of students Dr. Montrose Streeter!

Maggie Mason will be the student leader on this year’s trip. (Two more students will be joining the group tomorrow but could not attend this evening.) We are wishing them all a wonderful trip and we are so grateful to the Wrights and all of the donors who endowed this annual trip! 🛶🏕️

The alumni team has been busy sprucing up the Arkansas College window displays and adding new items! Be sure to check them out in Edwards Commons when you are on campus.

We LOVED seeing so many alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and dental students at Scots in the Rock last Friday!

What an amazing evening touring the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine after a welcome by founding dean, Dr. Burke Soffe. Breaking into small groups led by current D2 students, alumni were able to see each floor of the incredible, state-of-the-art school.

Happy Hour followed at Town Pump, where Scots filled the restaurant, reconnected with old friends, and welcomed new VPIA Bailey Faulkner. We were also honored to be joined by President Melissa and David Taverner; the dean of the Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Carolyn Henry; and the associate dean for professional programs at LCSVM, Dr. Eason Hildreth and his wife Emily. It was a wonderful evening and we sincerely thank everyone who joined us!

The next meeting of the Lyon College Alumni and Friends Book Club is another special one!

We will meet on Zoom on September the 1st with our very own Dr. Stephanie Saunders, class of 2002, discussing her novel "Covered Buttons," which is receiving wide acclaim! You won't want to miss it. Stephanie is Associate Professor of Spanish and director of the Honors Fellows Program at Lyon!

On Friday, Oct. 23, we will host the Alumni Awards celebration followed by the Alumni & Friends social at Polk & Paddle (last year's social was a blast, so you won't want to miss this!). On Saturday, catch Lyon Scot Football in action, looking for a Homecoming win vs. Texas Lutheran. And on Sunday, we celebrate Club 50, welcoming all graduating classes from 50+ years ago, with a specific welcome to the Class of 1976.

Hey Scots! You have been amazing about helping with our student move-in days and we're back to ask for some help this year!

New students will move in on Thursday, August 13. This year, the alumni office is going to have a tent to welcome new families, hand out waters, answer questions, and sell some Lyon merch. We would love to have alumni volunteers to work in one to two hour shifts helping us make our new families feel as welcome and appreciated as possible! If you would like to volunteer for a shift between 8:30 and 3:30, please email [email protected] and indicate your preferred shift. Thank you!!

A proven fundraising and nonprofit leader, Bailey brings more than a decade of experience building philanthropic partnerships, engaging donors and expanding organizational impact. In her new role, she will lead the college's fundraising, alumni and donor relations, corporate and foundation partnerships, and advancement initiatives across the Lyon College system.

"Bailey is an accomplished fundraising leader with a remarkable ability to build meaningful relationships and inspire philanthropic investment," said Lyon College President Dr. Melissa Taverner.
