October's first Life After Lyon panel, the second in the series, featured a selection of local dentists returning to campus to indulge in fond memories and glimpses of reality for current students interested in a path to dental school. The students seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed the conversation, with several staying afterward to continue asking questions.

Huge thanks to Lyon grads Dr. Lesley Milton. Dr. Lauren Gunderman, Arkansas College grad Dr. Paul Hance, and UA grad & friend of Lyon College, Dr. Rachel Baker, for putting in extra time at the end of their work days to speak with our Scots!

The weekend of homecoming festivities and pipe bands will be here before we know it! Speaking of homecoming, don't forget that we have several events prepared for the alumni who are planning a visit during ScotsFest. We are so excited to hear those familiar voices that once echoed in Brown Chapel as they return for the choir reunion; celebrating our new class of Alumni Award winners and socializing with fellow alumni and friends at Polk & Paddle immediately afterword; AND inducting graduates from the Class of 1976 into Club 50!

Get your tickets to help us celebrate! And if you have any questions about registration for any of the events, please let us know by emailing [email protected] or calling (870) 307-7470. We can't wait to see you!

This fall, the Lyon College Center for Career and Professional Development, Thriving Scots, and the Office of Alumni Engagement are partnering for Life After Lyon, a speaker series bringing alumni back to campus for conversation with current students.

Students will hear not just what our alumni are up to, but how they got there - the choices, unexpected turns, lessons, and opportunities that shaped their paths. We are all so excited to see this collaboration come to life!

We'd love to get a good number of alumni involved in this effort, so if you would be interested in participating in a Life After Lyon session related to your field, let us know by filling out the Alumni Information Update form (if you haven’t already) at https://tr.ee/DnIWfVJmUz

Join us for a powerful afternoon of Holocaust remembrance, history and education as Al Bromberg shares the remarkable survival story of his father, Harry Bromberg, born in Poland in 1919.

📅 Wednesday, September 9
🕓 4 p.m.
📍 Lyon College

Harry was a shoemaker whose trade helped him survive nine different N**i work, concentration and death camps during the Holocaust. His harrowing story of survival, perseverance and loss is brought to life through the perspective of his son, Al Bromberg, a resident of Paragould, Arkansas.

Parts of Harry’s story and Al’s journey are rooted here in Arkansas, connecting a deeply personal Holocaust experience to our own community.

Generation to Generation: Dignity is part of the award-winning Generation to Generation documentary series by BNB Productions, created to help pass the memory and lessons of the Holocaust from one generation to the next.

In recent years, Al Bromberg has shared Holocaust history with students and congregations, working to preserve the historical record, encourage thoughtful understanding, and help ensure that the lessons of the past are carried forward.

This event is an opportunity to listen, learn, remember and ensure that the truth of history is not forgotten.

History lives when we tell the stories of those who survived.
