Lyon College is proud to announce Katherine Mayberry as the new head coach of the Scots men's and women's cross country and track and field programs.

A Lyon alumna and Hall of Fame inductee, Coach Mayberry has already made a lasting impact on our student-athletes, helping lead dozens of Scots to all-conference and all-academic honors. Now, she'll lead all aspects of our cross country and track and field programs as Lyon continues building a championship culture.

"I'm super excited about my new position and can't wait to get started on this new journey! I've always dreamed to Coach here at Lyon College, because this is where I started my running career." said Mayberry. "I have gone full circle back to my starting point to lead and build something even bigger! I've always thought if it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you! I'm excited to be back in the Batesville community!"

Lyon College has named Matt Petersen as the new head coach of the Scots women's basketball team.

Petersen brings nearly 20 years of collegiate coaching experience, most recently serving as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Stetson University, where he helped lead the Hatters to a 20-win season and a postseason appearance in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Matt Petersen as the new leader of our women's basketball program," Director of Athletics Kevin Jenkins said.

Congratulations to Dr. Jeremiah Cherwien, Lyon College's vice president of information services and chief information officer, on receiving the inaugural Susan Bartel Dissertation Award from Maryville University.

Dr. Cherwien earned the honor for his dissertation, "Evaluating the Effectiveness of Information Security Training for Faculty and Staff," which examined the impact of cybersecurity awareness training in higher education. His research was recognized for its academic excellence, scholarly rigor, and potential to make a meaningful impact on higher education.

We are proud to celebrate this outstanding achievement and grateful for Dr. Cherwien's leadership in advancing technology, cybersecurity, and innovation at Lyon College.
