Scot era loading…

Lyon College is about to get a whole lot louder, livelier and more Scotastic because move-in starts Tuesday, Aug. 11!

First up: our football student-athletes, marching band, and cheer and dance team arrive to get ready for the season. Commuter students participating in football, marching band, and cheer and dance should follow their group’s schedule, too!

Then, on Thursday, Aug. 13, our new first-year and transfer students start moving into their new homes.

And then… SCOT Week begins!

From the SCOT Week Welcome and class photo to YearOne, COR 100, ScotFair, Lyonpalooza, College Prep Bingo, a major fair lunch and plenty of chances to meet friends, faculty and staff, there’s a LOT happening.

Plus, we’ve got some serious Tartan Tradition energy coming with the professor scavenger hunt, campus picnic and legendary raft race at Bryan Lake.

On Monday, Aug. 17, our newest Scots will officially be welcomed during the Fall 2026 Matriculation Ceremony at 11 a.m. in Brown Chapel and Fine Arts Building.

Returning students move in Sunday, Aug. 16, and classes begin Tuesday, Aug. 18.

New friends. New adventures. New traditions. A whole new chapter.

What can 500-year-old pottery, ancient houses and a 5 a.m. start time teach you?

Lyon College archaeology students spent a month uncovering the past at one of Arkansas's most significant archaeological sites, discovering pottery, stone tools, animal bones and the remains of a Native American house dating to the 1500s.

The hands-on field school gave students real-world experience while helping researchers better understand the history of the White River Valley. Along the way, they built skills, friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

Sometimes the greatest discoveries aren't just buried in the ground. They're found in the students learning how to uncover them.

Move-in is almost here, and our Student Life team is ready!

This week, the crew rolled up their sleeves to create custom trucker hats they'll wear throughout move-in week.

Each hat features a positive message, fun patches that reflect each team member's personality
and their office and name to help new students and families easily spot someone who can help.

If you see one of these hats on campus during move-in, don't hesitate to stop and say hello.

We're here to welcome you to the Lyon College family!

It was great to see so many Lyon College alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students at Scots in the Rock last Friday hosted by Lyon College Advancement and Alumni Relations at the Lyon College School of Dental Medicine in Little Rock.

The evening began with a welcome from Founding Dean Dr. Burke Soffe, followed by tours of the dental school led by current D2 students. Alumni had the opportunity to explore the facility and see firsthand where the next generation of dentists is being trained.

The event continued at Town Pump, where alumni connected with new Vice President of Institutional Advancement Bailey Faulkner. We were also honored to be joined by President Dr. Melissa Taverner and David Taverner, Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine Dean Dr. Carolyn Henry, LCSVM Associate Dean Dr. Eason Hildreth and Emily Hildreth.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a wonderful evening. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
