What comes after Lyon College? Our Life After Lyon series is helping students find out!

The second event in the series brought a panel of local dentists to campus to share fond memories, offer real-world perspectives and answer questions from students interested in pursuing dental school.

The conversation was so engaging that several students stayed afterward to continue asking questions and making connections.

A huge thank-you to Lyon alumni Dr. Lesley Milton and Dr. Lauren Gunderman, Arkansas College graduate Dr. Paul Hance and University of Arkansas graduate and friend of Lyon College Dr. Rachel Baker for taking time at the end of their days to share their experiences and advice with our Scots!

Sponsored by Thriving Scots, Alumni Relations and Career Services, Life After Lyon connects students with alumni across a variety of professions, helping them explore career paths and envision the possibilities ahead.

Coming up this semester:

Oct. 27: Business
Nov. 17: Exercise Science

We’re proud to connect our Scots with alumni who are helping them turn their college experiences into bright futures!

Lyon College, it’s time to hurkle-durkle!

Lyon College will celebrate Hurkle-Durkle Days Thursday and Friday, Oct. 8-9, on the Batesville campus. And yes, we’re taking the name seriously.

According to the Dictionaries of the Scots Language, hurkle-durkle means “to lie in bed or lounge about when one should be up and about.” Sounds like a pretty good way to celebrate our Scottish heritage.

Here’s what you need to know:

📚 No classes Thursday or Friday
🏢 Offices open Thursday
😴 Offices closed Friday

So sleep late. Stay in your pajamas a little longer. Read a book. Lounge around.

Whatever your version of hurkle-durkling looks like, enjoy it.

“Hurkle-Durkle Days are a lighthearted way to honor our Scottish heritage and give everyone at Lyon a chance to recharge and remember to take care of themselves,” said Lyon College Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. Anthony Grafton.

See you Monday, Scots. Hopefully rested and ready to go.
