Official Announcement: A New Chapter Begins January 1, 2027

The Closing of Nails, Skin & Hair of America After 30 Years

After thirty remarkable years of service, education, advocacy, and leadership in South Carolina, I have made the decision to officially close the doors to Nails, Skin & Hair of America (NSHA) on January 1, 2027.

Thirty years is a long time.
Three decades of fighting for our industry, raising professional standards, shaping legislation, training thousands of skilled professionals, and elevating what it means to be licensed in the beauty field.
NSHA has been a part of my heart and my mission, and what a ride it has been.

We accomplished far more than anyone ever imagined.
We educated. We advocated. We collaborated.
We protected the rights and safety of licensed professionals, and we survived challenges — including the pandemic — that transformed our industry forever.

But times have changed drastically, especially in the last five years post-COVID.
And after deep reflection, it is time to wrap up this chapter, put a bow on it, and move forward into bigger and better things.

Membership & Credits

All Lifetime Memberships and existing credits will seamlessly transfer to Chesley Paige Phillips Productions (CPPP).
Your loyalty, dedication, and investment do not end — they continue with me into the next era.

Continuing Education Will Continue — With the Same Quality You Expect

Although NSHA will close, my commitment to providing exceptional, accurate, high-quality continuing education remains unchanged.

The CE program you have trusted for decades will now be offered through Chesley Paige Phillips Productions, where innovation, professionalism, and modern education will continue to grow.

You will receive the same quality, the same standards, the same integrity — simply under a new, more expansive home.

The Work Continues: My Active Programs Moving Forward

Along with continuing education through CPPP, I will remain committed to the core work that defines my purpose and passion:

Salon Professionals Alliance (SPA)

Dedicated to fighting deregulation, combating unlicensed and unsanitary practices, and protecting the rights, standards, and safety of licensed beauty professionals.

The Relaxation Room

An Ayurvedic-inspired sanctuary promoting balance, wellness, mindful restoration, and holistic healing through traditional practices.

The Apothecary

A natural health and wellness brand offering herbs, oils, blends, soaps, candles, and holistic remedies — focused on education, purity, and the power of nature.

To My Staff, Students, Supporters, and the Entire Professional Community

I am profoundly proud of the work my staff and I accomplished in thirty years.
Your dedication, trust, and passion have kept NSHA strong through every challenge and have shaped an entire generation of professionals.

This is not an ending.
It is an evolution — a rising into the next stage of my mission.

Thank you for being part of the journey…
And get ready for what comes next.

Protect the Future of the Cosmetology Industry!

Deregulation threatens the professionalism, safety, and quality of our industry. To ensure high standards and protect consumers, we must take action!

How You Can Make a Difference:

✅ Contact Your State Representatives – Reach out to your local senators and legislators. Explain how deregulation could compromise consumer safety and professionalism in our field. Your voice matters!

✅ Join Professional Organizations – Get involved with groups like the National Cosmetology Association (NCA) or your state cosmetology board to stay informed and advocate collectively.

✅ Educate the Public – Use social media, local news, and community events to spread awareness about the risks of untrained individuals performing services without proper regulation.

✅ Attend Public Hearings – When deregulation proposals arise, show up, speak up, and make sure policymakers hear directly from industry professionals.

✅ Emphasize the Importance of Training – Quality education and hands-on training are essential to ensure safe, high-standard services. Cutting corners puts both professionals and clients at risk.

✅ Highlight Consumer Safety Risks – Share real examples of how improper practices can lead to infections, chemical burns, and unsafe techniques. Keeping regulations in place protects everyone.

✅ Collaborate with Other Industries – Barbers, estheticians, and other beauty professionals face the same risks. Working together strengthens our collective voice.

✅ Start a Petition – Gather signatures from fellow professionals and clients to demonstrate overwhelming opposition to deregulation efforts.

Your Voice, Your Industry!

Cosmetology is more than just a profession—it’s a skilled craft that requires training, education, and regulation to ensure safety and excellence. Stand up, speak out, and protect the future of our industry!

Did you know that ONLY Massage Therapists can perform and teach Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Due to a change in the Massage Therapy Laws in 2023, Nail Technicians/Estheticians/Cosmetologists can longer perform (and in my case teach) MLD.

They made some changes

⚠️ Important Notice – Manual Lymphatic Drainage in South Carolina ⚠️

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized massage technique that supports circulation, reduces swelling, and promotes healing.

👉 However, in the state of South Carolina, **MLD may only be performed legally by a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT).

What does this means?

Estheticians, nail techs, and other professionals cannot legally perform MLD in South Carolina, anymore.

Only Licensed Massage Therapists who have received proper training in MLD are permitted to provide this service.

This regulation was put into place to protect the public, since MLD directly affects the lymphatic and circulatory systems.

✅ As always, it is your responsibility to check your professional scope of practice and state laws before offering or receiving advanced services.

*Historical Note* (I would guess about 2008 or 2009),
Here’s a Facebook-ready post version of your message — professional, clear, and easy for people to follow 👇

---

🌙✨ **Many Moons Ago…** ✨🌙

The **SC State Board of Cosmetology (SBOC)** clarified how certain services overlap between Massage Therapists and Estheticians.

Some treatments bring **both therapeutic and beautification benefits.** But here’s how the advertising/performance rules work:

💆 **Estheticians** – May perform the service but can only advertise it for **beautification purposes**.
💆‍♂️ **Massage Therapists** – May perform the service but can only advertise it for **therapeutic purposes**.
💆‍♀️ **Dual-Licensed Professionals (Massage + Esthetics)** – May advertise the service as providing **both beautification and therapeutic benefits**.

✨ Of course, no matter how it’s advertised, the **body receives both benefits** when the service is performed.

---

👉 At a recent SC Massage Therapy Board Meeting, I asked if the following modalities were allowed: Reiki, Reflexology, Shiatsu, Marma Point Therapy, and Manual Lymphatic Drainage.

I was informed that out of all of those that I mentioned, the only one the SC Massage Therapy Board regulated was Manual Lymphatic Drainage.

I asked what that meant for Educators. I was told that unless you are a Licensed Massage Therapist, you can not teach this class for credit hours.

I have asked for an updated list of modalities that are regulated by the SC SBMT, from the SC SBMT. I could find nothing posted about their specific scope of practice in regard to this.

As soon as I am in receipt of the list, I will share it on the website: ChesleyPaigePhillips.com

Stay tuned for the List!
