πππππA little over ten years ago, I started Infinite Learners, my private teaching company, and began working with a middle school student who, like all of us, needed someone to believe in him academically and personally.
πππππToday, that same student texted me a picture of his diploma from Illinois State University, a Bachelors Degree in Business Finance.
πππππThis is right in time for National Teacher Appreciation Week and National Small Business Week.
πππππI sent him a few old email correspondences from his middle school teachers β reminders of how far he has come and how much he has overcome. Looking back at those moments makes this accomplishment even more meaningful.
πππππIn a time when education is often criticized, moments like this remind me why the work still matters. As an exceptional needs educator, I have always tried my best to make sure my students attain academic success, confidence, growth, and independence β even when the road was difficult.
πππππTo my special graduate: congratulations. I respect you so much because I know this journey was not easy, but you did it. I truly believe you will go further than you ever imagined.
