Welcome to the official page for DUNE: a pioneering particle physics experiment, dedicated to unravelling the mysteries of matter and the evolution of the universe. The international neutrino physics community has come together to develop the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), a leading-edge experiment for neutrino science and proton decay studies. This experiment, together with the faci

DUNE is heading to Neutrino 2026! We have a fantastic lineup of talks and posters planned to showcase our progress across multiple fronts—in particular the launch of our installation phase at Sanford Underground Research Facility—all while celebrating the 70th anniversary of the neutrino’s discovery.

Meet Mike Kirby, senior scientist at Brookhaven National Laboratory and Leader of the DUNE Core Software and Computing Consortium. For Kirby, new detectors and new data analysis techniques is exactly what charges him up for the hard work ahead. Beyond computing, Kirby is one of DUNE’s proactive mentors dedicated to training early career members in computing and software tools. He is also a passionate science communicator who truly believes that sharing this research is one of the best parts of working on DUNE!

As part of a unique milestone for DUNE, on May 22, 2026, members of the collaboration came together to add their signatures to the cryostat beam that will ultimately travel one mile deep underground at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF). Scientists, engineers, postdocs, and students from around the world left their mark on the experiment symbolically connecting their work to the beam that will help unlock the mysteries of neutrinos. The excitement was absolutely electric!

Watch this moment of shared achievement across the global DUNE community.

Next on Global Voices of DUNE is Isobel Mawby, Senior Research Associate from Lancaster University developing particle reconstruction software. Isobel highlights how massive international collaborations like DUNE bring together researchers from different backgrounds unlocking fresh perspectives. They hope to see greater diversity in the field in the future as they firmly believe it will lead to better science.

Neutrinos maybe neutral but we were fully charged in Lead last week!

The excitement was in the air! More than 250 collaborators came together to mark their legacy on one of the massive cryostat beams heading a mile underground as the installation of DUNE kick starts at Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF). They signed for themselves, their colleagues, their institutes and their countries. A beautiful moment captured!

Very grateful to SURF, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility/DUNE-US project teams for making this happen.

DUNE collaborator Angela White, a doctoral researcher at The University of Chicago, recently delivered a fantastic public talk on the science and technology behind DUNE as part of the "Deep Talks" lecture series hosted by the Sanford Underground Research Facility. It was one of the most accessible and comprehensive lectures we have heard in recent times. Her excellent analogies to demystify complex concepts kept the audience completely captivated throughout the evening. Phenomenal job, Angela!
