CLERMONT NORTHEASTERN LOCAL SCHOOLS
BACK-TO-SCHOOL REMINDERS & IMPORTANT UPDATES
Welcome back, CNE Families! We are excited to welcome our students back to campus. To ensure a safe, smooth, and successful start to the school year, please carefully review the grade-level start schedules, cell phone policy updates, and campus traffic patterns below.
1. KINDERGARTEN & PRESCHOOL SCHEDULE UPDATES
KINDERGARTEN
Due to the delayed start, Kindergarten will NO LONGER have a split start.
Both boys and girls will start together on Tuesday, August 18th.
Extra staff will be available Tuesday morning to guide our new students and help everyone enter the building smoothly.
PRESCHOOL
Monday, August 17th: Open House from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM.
Wednesday, August 19th: First day of school for Preschool students.
2. PERSONAL COMMUNICATION DEVICES (POLICY 5136 / HB 250)
In alignment with Ohio House Bill 250 and CNE Board Policy 5136, all CNE schools will maintain a cell-phone-free environment during the school day to reduce digital distractions, support mental well-being, and foster genuine face-to-face connections.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Bell-to-Bell Focus: Personal communication devices must be powered off completely and stored safely out of sight (in lockers, backpacks, or designated classroom caddies) during the entire school day—including class time, hallway transitions, and lunch periods.
Sensitive Areas: Devices are strictly prohibited in restrooms and locker rooms at all times.
THOUGHTFUL EXCEPTIONS
Device use remains permitted for:
Medical monitoring (documented with the school nurse)
IEP or Section 504 plan accommodations
Direct teacher-led instructional activities
School buses and after-school extracurricular activities
Active emergency situations
REACHING YOUR STUDENT
If you need to relay an urgent message or contact your child during the school day, please call the main office directly. Our staff will connect you with your student promptly.
3. CAMPUS TRAFFIC PATTERNS & DROP-OFF/PICK-UP
To resolve backup issues on Hutchinson Road and ensure student safety, please follow the designated traffic flows for your child's building:
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (ES)
Procedure Change: Morning drop-off now follows the same procedure as afternoon dismissal.
Route: Enter using the US Route 50 entrance closest to the Middle School. Drive slowly and follow the one-way traffic flow.
Timing: Campus arrival is no earlier than 7:45 AM. Drop-off begins at 8:20 AM when staff members are present to direct vehicles.
Parking & Unloading: Park in the first 2 rows of the lot closest to the tennis courts, facing your vehicle toward the courts. Do NOT park in front of the High School lot.
Safety: Have students exit on the driver's side of the vehicle.
MIDDLE SCHOOL (MS)
Drop-Off: Enter via US Route 50. Pull forward toward the end of the sidewalk so multiple vehicles can unload simultaneously and prevent backups onto US Route 50.
Exit: Exit campus back onto US Route 50 (if dropping off MS students only).
HIGH SCHOOL (HS)
Drop-Off: Enter using the second entrance on Hutchinson Road. Pull up in front of the building and have students exit on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Exit: Exit campus using the first entrance/exit closest to US Route 50 on Hutchinson Road.
FAMILIES WITH MULTIPLE GRADE LEVELS & STUDENT DRIVERS
MS & HS Families: Drop off High School students first via Hutchinson Road. Exit campus onto US Route 50, then re-enter the Middle School drop-off line from US Route 50 to minimize cross-campus traffic.
HS Student Drivers (Dropping off MS Students): Enter via US Route 50 to drop off Middle School students first. Drivers may then turn left within the parking lot toward the HS student lot. All HS student drivers must enter campus via US Route 50.
STAFF PARKING FLOW
HS Staff: Remain on campus after dropping off MS students and proceed directly to routine parking.
ES Staff: Proceed to the HS drop-off exit, turn left onto Hutchinson Road, and re-enter at the second entrance on Hutchinson Road to reach the Elementary School.
4. FIRST-WEEK CHECKLIST
Drive Safely & Patiently: Traffic is always heavier during the first week. Drive slowly, stay alert for walking students, and watch for buses.
Bus Riders: Ensure your student is at their assigned bus stop 5–10 minutes early.
Emergency Forms: Confirm contact details and medical/emergency forms are updated in FinalForms.
Thank you for your partnership and support in keeping our school community safe and focused on learning. Have a wonderful first day! Go Rockets!
