Conversations about sexual violence have erupted across college campuses and other social circles after high-profile cases have hit the news. In response, people across the country are showing their support for survivors - both those we know, and those we might not.
Le***an, gay, and bisexual people are statistically more likely to experience sexual violence and dating violence than their straight peers - especially young people. Transgender and nonbinary people are at an even higher risk for sexual or dating violence than their cisgender peers, according to available research.
For anyone who has been impacted by sexual violence, whether recently or long ago, GLOW OUT! works closely with RESTORE Sexual Assault Services, the designated support program for survivors and loved ones across all four GLOW counties (as well as Monroe). They provide free, 24-7 services for survivors of any gender, age, sexual orientation, or ability.
If you or someone you love is in need of support, reach RESTORE at 585-546-2777 or at restoresas.org.
