🩰 Please welcome Ms Jessa Watkins to Liberty Dance Center’s Faculty. Ms. Jessa will be teaching ballet and lyrical this upcoming season. Read about her and say hello! 👋
Jessa Watkins, originally from Atlanta Georgia, received her early dance training at Carla’s Dance Factory. Home to the CDF performing and competition companies and the Georgia Youth Ballet.
For the decade that she trained in Atlanta; she performed local performances and ballets put on by CDF and the Georgia Youth Ballet performing companies. In addition to also being selected as a soloist for many of the out-of-state guests choreographers routines and seasonal performances for several years in a row.
Upon graduating, Jessa also taught for Carla’s Dance Factory for several dance seasons. Teaching technique and ballet classes for the company, and in addition, choreographing many award-winning solos and group contemporary and lyrical pieces for dance competitions. Students love her classroom style and easy demeanor.
Jessa continued her own dance education at the Atlanta Ballet and took many master classes and dance workshops organized by various dance companies and guest artists from around the country. She attended The Dance Teacher Summit”, held in New York City, and took master classes by instructors such as, Mia Michaels, Mandy Moore, and Doug Caldwell.
These dance experiences cultivated Jessa’s love of teaching and further inspired her growth, development, and passion for dance.
After marrying, Jessa and her husband relocated to Blacksburg Virginia where she performed with the Blacksburg Ballet Company and served as assistant Ballet Director for DanceTech Performing Arts Studio.
Jessa has been blessed to have performed in various major projects and events such as the annual Nutcracker, Performing soloist roles such as the Snow Queen and Dew Drop Fairy.
After giving birth to their first child; Jessa and her husband relocated to Memphis Tennessee, where she started and developed a dance program for a local private Christian school that she ran from 2020-2025 while simultaneously teaching ballet at a local dance studio in Memphis.

Jessa, her husband, and three daughters have since relocated to Bastrop Texas where Jessa is eager to continue teaching, sharing her experience and passion for dance.
Jessa specializes in Ballet, Lyrical, and Contemporary technique and choreography.
She is most passionate about working with pre-teens and teens, beginner to intermediate with a focus of developing them to an advanced level.
She is thrilled to reignite her teaching passion in Bastrop at Liberty Dance Center. đź’ś

Katie Mae Hebert, a native of Austin, Texas, has dedicated her life to the art of dance, immersing herself in modern dance and a variety of movement traditions for more than two decades.
Throughout her career, Katie Mae has performed with several acclaimed dance companies, including Chaddick Dance Theater, Afrique Gninze, and Blue Lapis Light. Her passion for dance has taken her around the world, where she has expanded her
artistic perspective by studying and experiencing diverse movement practices throughout Asia, Europe, and Africa. Her training includes West African dance, Balinese dance, and Interpreting Dance for the Blind.
Katie Mae believes dance is more than an art form—it is a lifeline. “Without dance, I would be lost,” she says. For her, dance is a gift that fosters meaningful connections with both herself and others.
As an educator, Katie Mae has taught students ages 9 and up, sharing the knowledge and experiences she has gained throughout her career. Her classes emphasize the José Limón Technique, incorporating intentional breath, off-center movement, and
Flying Low floor work.
She encourages her students to listen to their bodies, trust their inner voices, and cultivate clarity, confidence, and authentic expression both on stage and in everyday life.
Katie Mae is excited to join the faculty at Liberty Dance Center in Bastrop, Texas, where she looks forward to inspiring the next generation of dancers through the transformative power of modern dance.
