🚨 #3 Pingry Tennis avenges early season loss, sweeps #2 Delbarton in state tournament!🚨
From NJ.com/Chris Nalwasky:
"The Big Blue suffered a close loss to the Green Wave last month in the Bryan Bennett Tournament semifinals, where they dropped two super tiebreaker matches which made the difference.
They weren’t going to fall in the rematch.
Thursday, NJ.com Top 20 No. 3-ranked and third-seeded Pingry dominated No. 2 and second-seeded Delbarton 5-0 in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Non-Public state tournament semifinals.
The win propels the Big Blue (13-2) into next Tuesday’s sectional final at No. 1 and top-seeded Newark Academy.
“We talked it over as a team, and we were really hungry to win this match,” Pingry’s Ryan Hao said. “We wanted to prove ourselves.”
Pingry, which captured both the Somerset County Tournament title and the Prep A Tournament championship this spring, has made strides since the last time these two high-powered teams met.
“It’s always competitive when we play Delbarton,” Pingry coach Marion Weber said. “We’ve worked hard since the first match against them. We really wanted to play this match. We came to play today and the results showed. Everyone was dialed in. We were better prepared and had our minds in the right place.”

🚨Girls Lacrosse Somerset County Championship 4-Peat COMPLETE!🚨
Congrats to Coach Abbott and girls varsity lacrosse, who captured their fourth consecutive county title on Saturday with a 13-8 victory over Ridge! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
From NJ.com: "For a number of Pingry seniors, winning the Somerset County Tournament title is something they’ve grown quite accustomed to. On Saturday afternoon, they had to dig deep and use every ounce of experience in order to lead the Big Blue to title No. 4.
Top-seeded Pingry, ranked No. 9 in the NJ.com Top 20, used a strong fourth quarter to defeat second-seeded Ridge 13-8 to win its fourth-straight Somerset County Tournament crown at Somerville High School.
Pingry, which had never won a title prior to 2023, now has won the last four, and the Big Blue seniors played a major role.
“It’s unbelievable, we were actually talking about this yesterday,” Pingry coach Carter Abbott said. “They’ve been to the finals and come up with it, it’s really special for this group, they’ve been together for a while so it’s been really fun.”
Campbell Clark-Schoeb, Sydney Ellsworth, Chloe Huang and Katharine Patten are all four-year players, while Lucy Waterstredt and Lane Purcell both played three seasons. That leadership has paid dividends so far this season, and it was put on display in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s final.
“Our seniors really rose. We got some great turnovers that were caused by our seniors, we won some crucial draws with Chloe in the center, I think she won two in that final quarter, and that’s what leadership is and that’s how they rise,” Abbott said. “The leadership comes in lead by example. They’re able to be gritty and tough and strong and give the players around them confidence that they have in them.”
