Good morning everyone!

We are happy to report that our Phoenix XC Team had a successful day of competing at the Atlantic Coast XC Invitational on Saturday, October 10 in Chesapeake, Virginia!

Senior Natalie Adams and Lillian Beatty both competed in the championship race earning 5th and 8th place! Natalie finished with a personal record time of 19:42 and Lilly also earned a PR with a time of 20:40.

The other high school girls competed in the JV division and finished 3rd overall out of 7 teams. Brooklynn Jackson finished in 4th, Helen Peters finished in 5th, and McKenna Mull finished in 11th. Also scoring for the Phoenix in this race were Ava Bourne and Lainey Jackson. All runners earned season PRs.

Our high school boys also competed as a team in the JV division and finished in 6th place overall. Senior Evan Hoffer ran a PR time of 19:17 and finished in 9th place. Also scoring for the Phoenix were Ian Beck (26th, PR time 21:22), Elijah Clayton (30th, PR time 21:31), Uriah Neal (56th), and Eric Peregoy (61st, PR time 24:25).

It was a great day with cool overcast skies, perfect for racing! Our team continues to train hard and put themselves in fantastic condition for finishing out our cross country season!

Thank you for all of your support for these athletes! Piedmont District Championships will be held next Thursday, October 22! Go Phoenix! We are not finished yet!

Our welding students enjoyed visiting Comfort Systems USA Midatlantic and Hitachi Energy South Boston! Through shop tours and presentations, they got a firsthand look at how both businesses operate and how the skills they’re learning connect to careers in the industry.

Learning to teach by making connections! 📚🍎

MCHS Teacher Academy student Makhi Haskins is gaining hands-on experience working with a student at South Hill Elementary.

Through our Dual Enrollment Teacher Career Academy, Makhi is preparing for his future in education while working toward 24 college credits his senior semester. We love seeing our students learning alongside and supporting our younger learners! 🦈

📚❤️ Jayceon is reading a book to MCHS senior, Mr. Haskins! We love watching the special friendships Miss Glynn's kindergartners have formed with Mr. Haskins. These sweet moments are what make our days so special! ❤️🖤🐦‍🔥

The Emergency Services Mobile Communication Center is at Mecklenburg County High School today! It is set up in the school parking lot for a planned instructional activity with our Criminal Justice and Public Safety classes.

There is no emergency or cause for concern, just a great learning opportunity for our students!
