Blue Group was busy today! 💙🛒👩‍🍳

Students worked through the whole meal-planning process—meal planning our week, creating a grocery list, shopping for the ingredients, comparing/finding items in the store, and then heading back to RISE to cook our meal!

So many real-world skills packed into one day: planning, budgeting, navigating the grocery store, teamwork, communication, kitchen safety, and cooking. 🙌

And, of course, the best part… getting to eat what they made! 😋

Just another day of learning by DOING at RISE! 💙

💛💙 FUNdraising Friday is back! 💙💛

We started our morning with a visit from Heidi with Bartonville Parks & Recreation! Students had the opportunity to share their opinions and ideas about our local parks and amenities.

Then it was time to divide and conquer! 🙌 One group headed out for a grocery run, the Poppin’ Squad filled the first popcorn orders of the year 🍿, one team got busy in the kitchen, and another got to work filling orders for our new Dirty Soda Bar! 🥤

After lunch, everyone came back together to tackle job duties before wrapping up the week with some games and social time!

A busy Friday with a little bit of everything!

Yellow Group stayed busy this week!

Students practiced budgeting and put those skills to use during a grocery shopping trip. 🛒 We also spent some time in the kitchen, practiced money skills, and got caught up on laundry. 👕

During CAP, we switched things up with a mock coffee shop where students practiced a variety of workplace skills! ☕️

Safe to say, Yellow Group had a pretty productive week! 💛

🍉🚜 What a way to start off the year! 🧅🌱

Today, Yellow and Blue Groups headed out to Crooked Row Farm Illinois, where Farmer Randy taught us a little bit about farm life!

Students learned about the different types of watermelons, how to tell when they are ripe, and how to properly pick them. They also learned how to trim fresh onions and got an up-close look at some of the equipment used around the farm.

To make the day even more exciting, everyone was able to pick out a fresh watermelon and take it home, along with some fresh onions! 🍉🧅

A huge thank you to Farmer Randy at Crooked Row Farm for taking the time to share his knowledge with us and give our students such a fun, hands-on learning experience!

Yellow group got to practice their communication and decision-making skills in a creative way today! While visiting the Purple Bubble Bar, students explored scent blending while creating their own signature fragrances. 💜🫧

RISE Blue had a great job tour at Double A's Pizza! Students learned more about the different jobs and responsibilities in a restaurant setting, and then got to create their own pizzas for lunch.

We followed it up with a fun afternoon enjoying the fresh air, sunshine, and time together at Tower Park!
