Bartlett ISD Board of Trustees Names Lone Finalist for Superintendent

The Bartlett Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees, at its August 17, 2026, meeting, named Dr. Austin Crawley, the current Interim Superintendent of Bartlett ISD, as the lone finalist for superintendent. By law, the Board must now wait 21 days before voting to hire Dr. Crawley as the district’s new superintendent. Dr. Crawley is slated to replace outgoing Superintendent Dr. Theodore Clevenger.
The Board followed a lengthy process in selecting the finalist. In June, the Board hired the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services to direct the superintendent search. TASB consultants met with staff and community groups to discuss the leadership qualities desired in the district’s new superintendent. The profile developed from those meetings served as the benchmark used by the Board and consultants in evaluating applicants for the position.
The Board selected five applicants for initial interviews, and two applicants were invited back for a second round of interviews. Following the completion of the second-round interviews, the Board selected Dr. Crawley as the lone finalist.
The Board is scheduled to vote on September 8, 2026, to offer Dr. Crawley a contract as superintendent.
Dr. Crawley has served in Bartlett ISD since December 2019, first as high school principal and later as assistant superintendent.
